Badger Bulletin
Special Edition
Why an early edition?
Hello Badger Family! I needed to give you some insight and updates about a few things that couldn't wait until Friday and since I will be out on Thursday I thought I'd get this info out early this week.
I know things can seem a little crazy this time of the year, but hang in there as it will all be worth it! Stay amazing!

Personnel Changes
If you haven't figured it out yet, we had another resignation this week. Coach McKinnie has resigned his position at EWMS. I didn't think HR was going to post the positions this soon, but both openings posted today. I will be considering the applicants, but don't anticipate making any decisions until January. In the meantime, we have Coach K filling in for McKinnie as a long term sub. If you get a chance stop by and introduce yourself.
Holiday Gathering
Every year we try and have some type of gathering to celebrate the holidays. Typically we have reserved a room at a local restaurant and everyone just orders off the menu. Unfortunately, everybody's schedules are so busy this time of the year that its hard to find a evening where everyone can participate. To that end, we are going to do something a little different this year. We have decided to provide a catered lunch on December 16th once all the kids leave. That way we can all participate and enjoy some great food and fellowship before we depart on a two week hiatus. YAY HOLIDAYS!
Personal Errands
Please refrain from sending students to the teacher's lounge or the front office to get ice or coffee. Thank you.
Backpack Challenge
So there is a new, and dangerous, challenge that is popping up in schools and locker rooms across the nation called the Backpack Challenge. This is where kids make two lines facing each other holding their backpacks, then someone attempts to run through the line while the kids throw their backpacks at the runner from both sides. As you can imagine, this can cause injury to the runner and should be discouraged. Please be on the look out.
Instructional Rounds
We will continue Instructional Rounds (IR's) this six weeks and the schedule is listed below. As you will notice the IR's will be lead by the Learning Coaches and Department Chairs this year.
How this works.
On the designated day you are invited to meet in the large conference room during your conference period. You will be assigned a group and your instructional leader will give you brief instructions and you will then go visit classrooms.
Each visit will last about 10 minutes each and you will be collecting data as you look through the lens of a specific rubric.
Once you complete your walk throughs you will return to the conference room and collaborate/calibrate your findings.
The purpose is to see what the student are doing and where it falls on the specific rubric.
We will give you more information as the date gets closer. I will also be sharing this information with the teachers new to Ed WIllkie at our meeting next week.
I realize that giving up your conference period cuts into your planning time, but this is important work we are doing and I have a plan to give you that time back if you participate.
