Class Picture Day - 3/13/24
Class Pictures will be taken on Wednesday, March 13th. All students will receive a free class picture. Individual "personality portraits" are available for purchase and are completely optional. These are different from the school headshots that were taken in the fall - these are an almost full body shot with a spring background.
If your student started with us after our fall retake day, we will be able to take their individual picture for the yearbook on this same day, but the only style available for purchase will be the personality portraits.
Indiviudal photos will ONLY be taken of those new students who started mid-way through the year, students who have online orders placed before March 13th, or who have a physical order packet with payment in hand.
Thank You for the Read-a-Thon Donations!
We were so impressed by all the reading that students completed for our Read-a-Thon, as well as the generosity of our families! The Read-a-thon raised over ten thousand dollars! The funds from the Read-a-Thon go toward things like field trips, classroom grants for teachers that support student learning and special projects, supplies for Sunrise clubs, and special guests and learning opportunities like the Science Center!
The online fundraising page will be open for one more week if you or someone you know would still like to donate at https://www.getmovinfundhub.com/register using our school code: 5d77e8fa91628
5th Grade Plays with the Symphony and 4th Grade Choir Students Perform!
A huge thank you goes to Ms. Turner for organizing, coordinating, and teaching students the songs to prepare them for this experience, and to our PTO for providing the funding for transportation and for covering the cost to attend!
Also this week, students who have been participating in choir from Mrs. Leahy's, Mr. Laurnen's, and Ms. McSwan's classes took part in the district-wide choir performance at Enumclaw High School. They did a wonderful job, we are so proud of all of their hard work!

Multiple Intelligences
As report card time approaches, it is important to reflect on the bigger picture of who we are as learners. Our strengths are more than what can be represented on a report card, or at one moment in time. There are multiple ways we shine, as we have different intelligences and strengths. In the image you can see Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligences as illustrated by Renee Jain.
March Curriculum Highlight - AIMSweb Assessment
Report cards are coming home March 14th. One of the assessments we use to gauge student strengths and needs in literacy and math is called AIMSweb. This assessment is a widely used system that helps educators and parents monitor students' academic progress.
AIMSweb assessments are designed to provide an overview of your child's literacy and math skills. These assessments help identify areas of strength and areas that may need additional support.
The literacy assessment in AIMSweb includes components such as reading fluency, and optional assessments of comprehension and vocabulary. It helps measure your child's ability to decode words, understand text, and express ideas effectively.
The math assessment covers various mathematical concepts and skills, including computation, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. It aims to evaluate your child's understanding and application of mathematical principles.
Results from AIMSweb assessments are often compared to established benchmarks or grade-level expectations, which help to show us what each student’s strengths and needs are.
Parents/guardians must be volunteers in order to help in classrooms, eat lunch in the lunchroom with their child, or visit the playground to join their child at recess. The volunteer application is available by clicking the link below.
