American Revolution
What was life before the Revolution?
Before the Revolution French had poor harvest, and not enough food. In French they had estates, where people where grouped to how they were living. The first estate had the most power than the others. In Britain they where a formidable foe whose power stretched throughout the world.
Who was Involved?
The French had King Louie and he spent more money than the government made. They also had Marie, Louie wife she also had uncontrollable spending. In the American Revolution they had George Washington who a virgin planter and soldier and social leaders from the colonies. Just like GW there was an estates general on the french side who was the gathering of representatives from all the estates.
How did they Organize?
The French had the Committee Of Public Safety which was formed to deal with people, it was a 12 member committee and it prepared France for war. For the American they had the Popular Sovereignty which was which states that all government power comes from the people. They also had Thomas Jefferson and he was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence.
How did Enlightenment ideals influence the revolution?
On the French they had John Locke and he was clever, cruel and untrustworthy. They also had the Declaration of Right Of Men, to keep everyone in order. The Americans had The Stamp Act which was imposed taxes on items such as newspapers and more. "No taxation without representation"
How did they overthrow? Did they overtake government buildings?
The French overthrew by the Bastille and the Bastille had 800 Persians gathered outside to symbol of monarchy power. They also had The Rain of Terror and that was people gathered together outside to watch beheading, at least 100 people died every day. For the Americans, British offered freedom to any enslaved people who were willing to fight the colonists. A number of Native Americans groups sided with the British while others saw potential in the colonists.
How did the government respond? Did they give in? Did they fight back?
French had The First and the Second states. The first estate was the people who had the most money and paid little to no taxes to help pay for the debt. The second nor did they want to leaving the burden of heavy spending on the third. American government responded by the Treaty of Paris which was ending the war, and the French and British and American diplomas signed. Also the Colonists Declare Independence in April the ongoing tension between the colonist and British exploded into war.
How was the government the same or different following the Revolution?
The French Revolution had Napoleon and the Napoleonic code. The code was, No privileges based on birth, freedom of Religion and jobs should go to the most qualified. French had Congress of Vienna and they redrew the map of Europe. The American revolution had the Federal Republic and that was constitution created it with power divided between the federal or national government and the states. Then they created the Three branches, Executive. Judicial, Legislative.
