Mrs. Greene's 3rd Grade

Student Appreciation Week!
Sorry about not having a newsletter last week. I actually had one, but forgot to send it out until I began working on this one yesterday. I apologize!
We had a GREAT week showing love and appreciation to our students. This will become a yearly tradition and I couldn't be happier. I had a few students bring me a treat to thank me for appreciating them and to tell me that they appreciated me as well. That warmed my heart!
Congratulations to the following students who completed all four weeks of the October Reading Challenge:
- Logan
- Haley
- Lily
- Cameron
- Leah
- Jayden
- Kendall
- Taylor
- Parth
- Simon
- Landon
- Makenna
- Cort
We will have a Winter Reading Challenge when we return from Winter Break in January.
Grandparent's Day will be held on Tuesday, November 20. The 3rd Grade time is from 11:00-11:45. We will start promptly at 11. Unfortunately, grandparents are not allowed to stay for lunch this year. Students will be allowed to give grandparents a tour of the school or to make a visit to the Scholastic Book Fair the last ten minutes of our time together. We go to lunch at 11:45.
Did you hear that Smoky Row made the Fox 59 News this week? They came to school to highlight our work with the new Kindness Garden that we are placing in front of the school in honor of former teacher, Mrs. Matters, who passed away in July of breast cancer. On Tuesday, November 13, all students will place their kindness rock in the garden. Each student made two rocks. The other rock will be used to place around the community at some point this school year. GREAT things are happening at SRE!
That's it for now!

Community Circle
A few highlights from our morning Community Circle time:
- We discussed the Habit of the Month - Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood.
- At the end of each Community Circle, we make a class commitment for the day. Check out the picture below that shows our commitment one day last week (accepting challenges today). This commitment came after I introduced them to this quote, "If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you!"
