Weir Middle School Monthly Newsletter-MARCH 2024
March News for everything Weir Middle School!
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPALS
Happy March and the beginning of Spring! March looks to be an eventful month at Weir Middle School.
Track season has begun and we want to take a moment to wish all students good luck and thank our coaches: Mr. George Martich, Mrs. Anna Grimm, Ms. Megan Ost, and Mr. Amedeo Mastrantoni. If anyone has questions regarding track, please ask one of these coaches or Mr.Daugherty our athletic director.
In honor of St. Patrick's Day, WMS will be having a GREEN OUT on Friday, March 15th! Students are encouraged to wear as much green as possible!
For any 6th and 7th grade student who participated in Weir Middle School sports this year, you are invited to attend a Wheeling Nailers game on Tuesday March 19. Permission slips have been sent home. Due to Golden Horseshoe testing, 8th graders will not be able to participate this year, however a future event will be held for our 8th grade athletes.
Report Cards will be sent out on Thursday March 28. If you do not receive your child's report card, that means it may not have made it home with them. Ask them if they have it. If they do not, please contact us and we will be happy to print out another copy. Always remember, parents can monitor their student's grades on LiveGrades. This up to the minute account will show you your students current progress in all of their classrooms. If you do not have a LiveGrades log in, please contact your student's homeroom teacher and we will be happy to send you the information. We have found that the best way for a student to succeed is for the parents and students to come together at home and set time to check their grades together weekly. LiveGrades is also a great way to communicate with the teachers. Please contact them should you have any questions regarding your child's performance in their classrooms.
Finally, if you know of any parents within our school who is not receiving this newsletter, please feel free to share it, encourage them to join our WMS Facebook page or log on to our school website to gain access.
Friendly reminder pertaining to Student End of the Day Pick up: In the pursuit of safety and timeliness, parents/guardians are asked to line up outside of the school in two lines. Please refrain from parking off the side of the road and asking your child to walk through the parking lot traffic. This could potentially be a safety hazard. PRO Officer Dennis will be outside directing traffic and will do his best to get everyone out safely and as quickly as possible. Please keep in mind, we have buses that arrive later and will need access to the bus pick up area, it is important we keep this clear for our bus drivers.
We at WMS would like to thank you for your continued support and for the opportunity to educate your child.
