Principal's Message
Hello Wilson families!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our 3rd-5th graders will begin the writing portion of state testing today. This week our students will also take ELA part 1 and ELA part 2. Please be sure your child gets a good night’s rest and a healthy breakfast each day. Please do not check your child out early on test days. Students cannot begin a test one day and finish it the next day. This will affect their score and not give an accurate account of your child’s knowledge or skills. Our testing calendar can be viewed here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1P2BvaRKpPYW1Vcb_EAfRkHl1Z6JOdwrpxyDykzg0lIQ/edit?usp=sharing
Today we will be experiencing the solar eclipse, occurring during our regular school hours. While this is a unique and exciting event, it presents a risk of eye injury to everyone, especially our students who may not understand the dangers of looking directly in the direction of the sun. At no time will it be safe to look at the sun without protection of authentic and properly certified eclipse viewing glasses. Because learning and safety are important, there will be no changes to the regularly scheduled instruction day but our recesses will be held indoors between the hours of 10:00am-1:00pm.
Our teachers received curriculum resources from the teaching and learning department about the solar eclipse to share the experience with your students. With proper precautions, we know that the wonder of an eclipse will be a source of inspiration for all of our students at Wilson.
Sincerely,
Lara Olsen, Principal
Schyla Bergeson, Asst. Principal
Capturing Kids' Hearts
Our theme this Month is Perseverance: GRIT
Ask each family member to write down a list of things they would like to learn to do but just haven't done yet. For example, "I haven't learned ______." Choose a few phrases from each family member and repeat these phrases, adding the word "yet" to the end. Remind your family that we must work daily to learn new things and keep trying even when it's hard.
