👩🏻🏫 Note from the Principal's Desk
Dear Potter Parents,
As we transition into the vibrant days of April, I hope this message finds you and your families in good health and high spirits. With spring in full swing, our school community is buzzing with excitement as we continue to navigate through this academic year.
Here are some important updates and reminders for the month ahead:
Spring Break Recap: I trust that everyone had a rejuvenating and enjoyable spring break. We're grateful for the opportunity to recharge and ready ourselves for the remainder of the academic year.
Upcoming Events: We have several exciting events planned for April, including:
Mid-Trimester Progress Reports: Our mid-trimester 3 monitoring progress reports will go home on April 12th. If your Brave is failing a class, please make sure to contact his or her counselor for support. We have a variety of support programs designed to help our Braves improve their grades.
Spring Sports Season: Our spring sports teams (Girls Basketball and Co-ed Soccer) are gearing up for their seasons. Please stay updated on game schedules and come out to support our student-athletes.
Field Trips: Some classes will be embarking on field trips this month. Please ensure that permission slips are signed and returned promptly.
Academic Focus: As we approach the end of the school year, it's essential to maintain a strong focus on academics. Encourage your child to stay organized, manage their time effectively, and seek assistance when needed. Our teachers are here to support them every step of the way.
Standardized Testing: Standardized testing will be taking place later this month. All 8th graders will take the California Science Test (CAST) starting on Monday, April 15th! This will be followed by assessments in math and English Language Arts, which will begin on April 22nd. Please ensure that your child comes to school every day on time and gets plenty of rest the night before and eats a nutritious breakfast on testing days.
Safety Reminders: We want to remind you that the safest place to drop off and pick up your child is at our designated drop off and pick up areas in our school. We ask that you be respectful of our neighbors and not pick up students in private neighborhood roads. We have received many complaints that cars continue to park in private streets making it unsafe for students. We highly encourage you to use our drop off areas.
Communication Channels: Should you have any questions or concerns throughout the month, please don't hesitate to reach out to your child's teachers or the school office. Open communication is key to ensuring a successful academic experience for your child.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education journey. Together, we can help them reach their full potential and thrive academically and personally.
Warm regards,
Dr. Gonzalez

⭐ Potter Jr. High is a Purple Star School
The Purple Star School program is designed to help schools respond to the educational and social-emotional challenges military-connected children face during their transition to a new school and keep them on track to be college, workforce, and life-ready. Military-connected refers to children of service members on active duty, and in the National Guard and Reserves.
Month of the Military Child
The Month of the Military Child, observed annually in April, is a time dedicated to honoring and recognizing the unique experiences, sacrifices, and resilience of children in military families. It serves as an opportunity to show appreciation for the contributions and sacrifices made by military children, who often face challenges such as frequent relocations, parental deployments, and adjusting to new schools and communities. Throughout the month, various events and activities are organized to celebrate military children, raise awareness about their needs, and provide support for them and their families. Purple is the color associated with the Month of the Military Child, symbolizing the combined colors of all branches of the military.
📝 State Testing
Students will begin taking the annual State assessments starting with 8th Grade Science. Here is the testing schedule:

🚙 Designated Drop Off and Pick Up Areas
