Please welcome Veronica Warren, associate director of the Counseling Center and Dr. Shawn Ekstrom, medical director and physician at the Student Health Center.
This presentation and conversation-based event will address the barriers to seeking both mental and physical health services among students of color. We will examine the cultural and socioeconomic barriers, as well as the attitudes, behaviors and risks regarding access to mental and physical health services, and discuss HOW we can change and WHY mind body wellness is so important among underrepresented groups.
History Club Movie Series Presents - Bound for Glory

The UWO History Club, in conjunction with History 216, will screen Bound for Glory, a film about the life of pioneering folksinger Woody Guthrie during the 1930s.
Bound for Glory was directed by the legendary 1970s filmmaker Hal Ashby (Being There, Harold and Maude, The Last Detail) and shot by Haskell Wexler, who received an Oscar on this film for Best Cinematography.
Come see this nominee for six Academy Awards on a big screen and in full high-definition splendor—just as it was meant to be experienced.
Professor Stephen Kercher will introduce the film.

Why is the sexual shaming of girls and women, especially sexual assault victims, still so prevalent in the United States and Canada? UnSlut: A documentary dilm features conversations with those who have experienced sexual shaming, including the family and friends of Rehtaeh Parsons, a 17-year-old who took her own life in 2013 after being gang-raped and labeled a “slut” as a result.
