Meet the Poinciana Leadership Team
Mrs. Davis-Principal
Hello Pelicans! My name is Jessica Davis. I am very excited to be in my 6th year as the Principal of Poinciana Elementary. It is always a pleasure to work closely with our students, teachers and families to create an atmosphere of learning and engagement. Every step we take helps to build our students to be the very best that they can be and that is very special to each of us. We love watching students grow and acquire new skills while they develop that excitement for learning. Thank you for entrusting your students with us! It is going to be a great year as we Reach for the Stars!
Mrs. Ferro-Assistant Principal
Let's IGNITE, ENGAGE, and INNOVATE learning each and every day!
Mrs. Steffens-Guidance Counselor
I am Denise Steffens, the School Counselor and proud to say this is my 27th year at Poinciana. I started my career in education as a Learning Disabilities teacher (7 years) and then became a School Counselor (27 years.) I conduct individual, small group and classroom guidance lessons. Topics include Changing Family, Positive Behavior, Grief, Self-esteem, Girls’ issues, Boys’ issues and Social Emotional Learning. The goal of school counseling is to help students be successful in school and to teach them strategies to deal with those things that may hinder their success. Please see our school website or your students’ Canvas page for Social Emotional lessons and parenting resources.
Mrs. Cox-Literacy Coach
It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself to you. My name is Chandra Cox, and I am the Literacy Specialist at Poinciana Elementary. I would like to express my joy and dedication in this role! This year marks my sixteenth year with Collier County Schools. I have previously served as a classroom teacher, math and science coach, and media specialist. I feel fortunate that my experiences have exposed me to diverse backgrounds and unique educational needs.
My primary role as a Literacy Coach is to closely liaise with teachers to plan appropriate instruction, provide supplementary interventions and supports in both small group and individualized settings, and assist in monitoring students’ progress.
Collaboratively with staff and administration, we strive to create a nurturing, motivating, and stimulating learning environment to help students achieve their potential.
You are a very important part of this journey! I thank you for the privilege and look forward to a successful school year with your child!
