Dear District 67 and 115 Staff, Students, Parents, and Guardians:
In December 2023, we announced that Deputy Superintendent Dr. Jeff McHugh is moving to Glen Ellyn School District 41 next year to become the new District 41 Superintendent.
Earlier this month, in a message to the community, I shared that, rather than fill this open position, we will redistribute the human resources and teaching and learning components of the Deputy Superintendent role to Dr. Phil Georgia and Dr. Renee Fitzsimmons, respectively. This will expand Dr. Georgia’s role as he becomes Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. Dr. Fitzsimmons’s promotion to Assistant Superintendent of Teaching, Learning, and Accountability creates a vacancy in the principalship at Everett School.
At tonight’s District 67 Board of Education meeting, I recommended Mrs. Megan Eigenrauch for the position of Everett Principal.
Megan Eigenrauch
Megan Eigenrauch currently serves as the Principal of Deer Path Middle School (DPM). Prior to her current role, Megan was the DPM Associate Principal of Staff Services, designing and implementing school-wide professional development for curriculum, teaching, and using data to drive instructional practices. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Educational Leadership with Superintendent Licensure through Concordia University Chicago.
“Deer Path will always hold a very special place in my heart,” says Megan. “I will miss the Deer Path students and staff, yet I am equally excited about all the relationships I will build while serving at Everett. With my DPM 5/6 experience, I know what is needed for our children to thrive in middle school and look forward to bringing that perspective to my work at Everett.
Dr. Michelle Shinn
To fill the vacancy created at DPM, tonight I recommended Dr. Michelle Shinn for the role of Grades 5 and 6 DPM Principal. Dr. Shinn is currently the Director of School Improvement for District 67. She moved into this role five years ago after serving a combined 16 years as the Principal of Cherokee and Sheridan Elementary Schools. Dr. Shinn shares, “I have had the privilege of working with a dedicated District 67 community and staff for many years. I am thrilled to join the DPM team and play a role in the educational experiences of our middle school students.” Dr. Shinn received her doctorate in School Psychology from the University of Oregon.
Proven Leaders
Mrs. Eigenrauch and Dr. Shinn are proven leaders in our schools and well-prepared to take on these new roles. I am pleased that we have the talent pipeline in the District to make these moves so seamlessly. Pending Board approval in March, these positions will take effect July 1, 2024.
All my best,
Matthew L. Montgomery, Ph.D.
