Principal's Message
Hi OP Families!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful March - we’ve really enjoyed our lovely 70 degree early spring days! As we approach the mid-way point of March is Reading Month, I want to thank all our families for your support of literacy in our community. We sincerely appreciate everyone who has come in and read to a class and modeling what it means to be a reader! Literacy is such a foundational life skill and when our students see us all working together on reading it's a great inspiration to be readers!
Thank you all for your continued support of your students and our OP community! Have a great weekend and only one more week until Spring Break!
Mr. Bruno
HUGE thank you to Owen Mulak's grandma and aunt for transforming OP's main hallway - it's DINO-mite!!

Watch DOGS - Open for April & May Now
We have opened up April and May on the sign-up calendar. At this time, please only sign up for one volunteer slot, this will give everyone a chance to sign up to volunteer. In order to volunteer, you must have a background check on file with our office for the 23-24 school year.
We will have t-shirts available for you to borrow on your day, but if you'd prefer to purchase your own shirt please use the link: Order a Watch DOGS Tshirt
When volunteering on your Watch DOG day, you will be here during your child's lunch. If you wish to purchase a lunch from our cafeteria, adult lunch is $5 this year. (The cashier is unable to make change, but you may have them put any change in your child's lunch account. You may also pull the cost of your adult lunch out of your child's lunch account as long as their is an adequate balance to cover your $5).

Attendance Policy
Just a reminder that attendance at school is so important - when students are absent, tardy or leave early they are missing valuable instruction. All students get sick or have an appointment from time to time - that is a given - but we just wanted to remind all OP families of our attendance policy. Please be sure to call our attendance line at 810-798-7019 x 303 if your child is going to miss school. See below:
- After 7 absences or 10 tardies/left earlies families will be notified by a letter.
- After 10 unexcused absences a truancy officer may be notified.
- After 15 absences or 20 tardies/left earlies, families are notified by a 2nd letter & the truancy officer may be notified.

Positivity Project
Positive Behavior at OP
We follow the RAD Raider Code. RAD stands for:
R - Ready to Learn
A - Always be Safe
D - Do the Right Thing
Students can earn RAD tickets by demonstrating expected behaviors, and these tickets are entered into a weekly drawing as recognition for positive behaviors. These students will also get to eat lunch with the principal at the end of the month.
Substitute Positions At ACS!
If you have questions for us regarding the roles our subs fill and the important jobs they cover at Orchard Primary, please stop in or give us a call! We'd be happy to answer your questions.
