The Weekly Hoot
September 16-22, 2019
Greetings All -
It is Sunday evening and I am just getting around to the Hoot. It has been a busy weekend full of fun! Between Friday Night Lights where we beat Iola (!), Saturday flag football games and a BBQ, and church and going to see "A Chorus Line" today with a friend, it has been a one fun thing after another! Throw in having a bottle calf now (another story for another time!), and I have not had time to turn around it seems!
A few personnel items... Glenna Graham will be joining our team beginning next Monday, September 23rd. Glenna has been a classroom teacher in Bryan, Navasota, and Colorado. She will be taking Natalie Skrehot's place. Not only will Glenna be joining us, but her son, Dean, will also be coming to PK. I am looking forward to working with Glenna and am so glad we have found someone to take over Natalie's position. Also joining our team for awhile is a familiar face. Crystal Flournoy will be helping out in the kindergarten hallway for a little while until we can get a little breather down there! LOL! So glad Crystal is willing to step in and help out.
If you are anything like me, the honeymoon is over with the beginning of school! LOL! I sort of equate it to being married. The first week of school is like the honeymoon. Everyone loves everybody and everything is just so exciting. The next few weeks are like those first couple of years of marriage. You are just trying to figure each other out and not make each other too mad. where we are now though.... It's kinda like 3 or 4 years in. Everyone isn't on their best behavior anymore, people are getting on each other's nerves, and you might be just a little bit tired and irritated! LOL! That's where I am with deadlines, budget, meetings, schedules, etc... I can feel that you are there also, but guess what? We are about to hit the "smooth sailing" part. That time from the end of September until Thanksgiving break where the kiddos are behaving relatively well, STAAR isn't breathing down our necks yet, and the old red hall kiddos have finally figured out how to get through the cafeteria line! It's like the BEST time at school! Hang on! We are almost there!
We have completed most of the Professional Development Conferences this past week and in most of them the new Pearson resources have come up. I promise all of you are doing an amazing job and as the year progresses we are going to hone in on what is most important for each grade level within the resource. Please don't let it stress you out right now. We are going to get there! Slow and steady is going to win this race for sure! Just know that I see you trying right now, and I appreciate it! ;)
Last little thing... Coach Coronado is having a problem with the afterschool students getting equipment out of the storage in the gym and using it in the afternoons. It has not been put up properly and she has seen some inappropriate use of the equipment as well. Please tell your kiddos not to use the gym equipment that belong to the school in the afternoon. If they want to play in the gym, that is fine, but let them bring balls, etc.. from home please.
I hope everyone has had a great weekend! Every Hoot I say it, and every Hoot I mean it. You are the best group of people I could ever work with! Thank you for all you do every day.
Building Champions!
Love to all,
Marcy
