MILLERSVILLE ELEMENTARY
APRIL 2024
WORDS WITH WILSON
Dear Millersville families,
Coming up very soon is i-Ready testing (K-2nd) - in the months of April/May. Please encourage your child to get a lot of rest and eat healthy too. Pediatricians recommend 3-6 year olds should have 11-12 hours of sleep each day/night. Even children ages 7-12 are encouraged to have 10-11 hours of sleep daily/nightly. Check out myplate.gov. for appropriate amounts of food and nutrition for your growing child(ren). Hopefully, you will have a chance to review this with your child.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call me or text me at 573-987-0618 or email me at swilson@jr2mail.org.
Happy April!
Shanna Wilson, Principal

NOTES FROM THE NURSE
Happy Spring!!
The Care Closet is up and running. If you are in need of any household or toiletry items for your child please click the link and fill out the form: Care Closet WL/MV. **All requests are confidential.
What Is Going Around: This time of the year we tend to see an increase in Stomach Viruses, Pink Eye, and Strep throat. If your child has any symptoms please keep them home or message me for guidance. The best way to stop the spread is staying home when sick, washing hands, and cleaning frequently used surfaces(bedding, toothbrushes, counters, water bottles, phones, tablets, etc.). These are not the only viruses/illnesses going around but are the most common at this time.
Allergy season is upon us. If your child has seasonal allergies and takes a daily allergy medication be sure they are getting as needed.

On April 8th, there will be a solar eclipse. We plan to have the faculty, staff and students enjoy the solar eclipse experience on the playground. We will only be outside for a little bit of time before and after totality. Students will receive solar eclipse glasses to protect their eyes. Please have your child wear their Solar Eclipse t-shirt that was sent home Monday, March 25. T-shirts were provided to all students by the Millersville PTO and Kelly Waller, our Partner in Education.
SPRING MUSIC CONCERT
The Millersville Elementary Spring Music Concert will be held on Thursday, April 18th at 6:00 PM in the gym. Doors will open at 5:15 PM. ALL students should meet in their classrooms and be ready to perform by 5:45 PM. It is very important that all students arrive on time.
We are asking all of our singers to look their very best. We do not intend for you to have to purchase new clothes. Students can wear a nice, presentable pair of blue jeans and a nice shirt. Please, NO heels or flip-flops. We are singing and standing on risers the entire concert and our students’ safety is a major priority that must be taken seriously.
LUNCH BUNCH/BOOK FAIR
We will be having a Lunch Bunch and Book Fair on Monday, April 22. Your child may purchase a lunch from the cafeteria or you may bring lunch for them as well. We will be eating outside on the lawn if weather permits. The best area to set up for lunch is in front of the building under the shade trees or the pavilion. After lunch you and your child my browse the Book Fair.
There will be a table with a sign in sheet right inside front the door. Please sign in at the table and go ahead and set up outside. Ms. Jackie will gather students and will bring them out to their families. You will need to be here by 11:30 AM.
We will be sending a note home on Monday, April 15 with further details. Please return the bottom portion of the note to your child's teacher so we will have an idea of how many will be attending.
