NORTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL
Northwest High JAG-LA Recognized by JAG.org
Northwest High JAG-LA was recognized by JAG.org yesterday for having positive Job Placement status results the month of May 2018. I am so excited to share this news with you and to know that we were recognized by the national JAG program!!
We have had a great first year here at Northwest with the support of administration and our advisory committee.
All 10 seniors graduated, 3 are joining the military then will attend college, 7 have been employed locally, and 7 will be attending either a 2 year college or 4 year college. I will continue to follow these seniors for the next year to ensure continued success.
JAG Northwest students organized and planned a Random Act of Kindness event for their fellow classmates and teachers. JAG students wrote words of encouragement or positive quotes and distributed to students by placing these notes in student lockers and teacher mailboxes.
JAG Northwest students just completed a PBL project to learn and understand more about their fellow students. Students created personalized plates. They were asked to use symbols to represent their goals, strengths, family, obstacles that have overcome, dream careers and also a positive quote that was a reflection of them. Students prepared a speech and presented their personal plates to their class and our guest speaker. Guest speaker for the day was Mrs. Frankie Bertrand, retired CEO/President of St. Landry-Opelousas Chamber of Commerce. After speaking with each class, the students presented their speeches and personalized plates.
The Northwest High Robotics Team met yesterday after school to begin building their competition robot. They named their robot Proxy.
