Saying Goodbye
Say Hello
A Note From Lyssa:
I am a 2016, Honors Graduate from Hampton University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. My post graduate work includes working as a behavioral technician and a special education teacher, in both the public and private sectors. Prior to my graduation from college I spent my summers working with children at various summer camps in the area, such as Headfirst Summer Camps in NW. I have a true passion for working with young learners. Helping each child progress in all areas of their development, whether it be academic, social, language, and/or motor skills, is a challenge that I am honored to accept daily. I strive to create a community of learners in a nurturing, positive, and fun environment. I have always had a heart for children, especially those with special needs. I have been blessed by the many lives that have passed through my classrooms and in my personal life. I am excited to begin my fourth year teaching special education.
I look forward to working together with the Hearst community as partners in the growth and development of children with Autism!

National Archives Sleepover - February 1-2
I'm reaching out on behalf of the National Archives Foundation regarding our Sleepover early next month. The overnight adventure is a great opportunity for children (ages 8-12) and their parents to learn more about our history after hours. The night is filled with activities throughout the museum and guests wake up to pancakes from the Archivist!
https://www.archivesfoundation.org/sleepover/
Description: A night of adventure awaits at the National Archives! Join us for a special sleepover at the National Archives Museum in Washington, DC, and spend the night next to America’s most precious treasures: the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights.
Young explorers will learn about the right to vote with Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Frederick Douglass; dive into our nation’s treasured records, including the Rightfully Hers exhibit celebrating the 19th Amendment; navigate the museum with a scavenger hunt; and wake to a pancake breakfast served by the Archivist of the United States.
