The Sunrise Read-a-Thon is NOW!
Students, parents, relatives, friends, and neighbors can all pledge to support your child in the Read-a-Thon! Pledges will be accepted online, or by cash/check using the donation forms students bring home today.
You can donate online and get your student's individual fundraising link that be shared on social media at: https://www.getmovinfundhub.com/register using our school code: 5d77e8fa91628
To donate without any online fees, send cash and checks in your child’s take home folder, or bring them directly into the main office. Donations will be accepted between March 1st and March 8th.
All students will get a Sunrise water bottle, and they can earn stickers for their water bottle by completing reading challenges, such as reading to someone over the phone or reading with a pet or stuffed animal. Students can bring up to two signed challenge slips each day to get their sticker!
Let's get our kids excited about reading while earning money to support the wonderful things our PTO is able to provide to help us create an engaging and fun learning environment here at Sunrise!
Class Picture Day - 3/13/24
Class Pictures will be taken on Wednesday, March 13th. All students will receive a free class picture. Individual "personality portraits" are available for purchase and are completely optional. These are different from the school headshots that were taken in the fall - these are an almost full body shot with a spring background.
If your student started with us after our fall retake day, we will be able to take their individual picture for the yearbook on this same day, but the only style available for purchase will be the personality portraits.
Indiviudal photos will ONLY be taken of those new students who started mid-way through the year, students who have online orders placed before March 13th, or who have a physical order packet with payment in hand.

Sunrise SEL Word of the Month
Sunrise Word of the Month for March ~ Diversity ~ the range of human differences.
Talking openly and positively about differences can help children better understand themselves and those around them. Embracing diversity empowers young children to engage their world with curiosity, confidence and kindness. It also helps children learn to empathize with people who are different from them.
If you would like to see resources we use to cover the topic of diversity, the following books are examples of resources we use: The Name Jar by Yangsook Choi, I am Enough by Byers, Our Class is a Family by Shannon Olsen, and The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson.
March Curriculum Highlight - AIMSweb Assessment
Report cards are coming home March 14th. One of the assessments we use to gauge student strengths and needs in literacy and math is called AIMSweb. This assessment is a widely used system that helps educators and parents monitor students' academic progress.
AIMSweb assessments are designed to provide an overview of your child's literacy and math skills. These assessments help identify areas of strength and areas that may need additional support.
The literacy assessment in AIMSweb includes components such as reading fluency, and optional assessments of comprehension and vocabulary. It helps measure your child's ability to decode words, understand text, and express ideas effectively.
The math assessment covers various mathematical concepts and skills, including computation, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. It aims to evaluate your child's understanding and application of mathematical principles.
Results from AIMSweb assessments are often compared to established benchmarks or grade-level expectations, which help to show us what each student’s strengths and needs are.
Parents/guardians must be volunteers in order to help in classrooms, eat lunch in the lunchroom with their child, or visit the playground to join their child at recess. The volunteer application is available by clicking the link below.
