Week 10
With the spring break holiday approaching fast we've been keeping busy at DHA with trips to Expo 2020, celebrating International Maths Day, Art Day and Music week. The students showed their creativity on Thursday not only with their artistic talents throughout the day but also in the brightly colourful array of clothes and costumes they wore to school.
Throughout the week the students have had the opportunity to showcase what they have been learning in their music lessons and the week ended with a variety of musical performances in the assemblies.
Next week is scheduled to be just as busy. On Monday we will 'Rock Your Socks' as we recognise World Down Syndrome Day and wear odd socks. Year 5 to Year 8 (Monday) and Year 3 to Year 4 (Thursday) will go to Expo 2020 for their second and final visit and we will end the term with This Is Me Day on Friday.
Please continue to stay safe and keep well. We wish you a pleasant weekend and look forward to seeing you back at school for the final 5 days of Term 2.

Parent Annual Questionnaire
Self-evaluation is an essential part of the school’s ongoing cycle of review and improvement planning.
We aim to measure how well we are doing in the 6 performance standards from the UAE Schools Inspection Framework, leading to an overall evaluation of the quality of education at Dubai Heights Academy.
Please can you complete the following questionnaire which will be presented in 2 parts.
Part 1 will focus on the first 3 school performance standards;
1. Student's achievement
2. Student's personal and social development
3. Teaching and assessment
Please take the time to complete the questionnaire as this information helps us understand our community needs and opinions and this feedback drives school improvement.
A glossary of terms is available to download below.
The deadline for completion is 4pm on Friday 25th March.
Part 2 will be issued on Monday 11th April.
Thank you for your support.
Expo 2020 Trips
We will be making our last trip to Expo 2020 as a school next week and this time round our trip is focused on the Legacy of the UAE.
One lesson we learnt from our last trip was to pack a small lunch and a small water bottle in a bag that can be carried on the back. This allows students to move around more freely, not loose personal items and is light for them to walk around with. Our teachers will have extra water and sanitiser on hand. Kindly ensure students wear their hat, have sunscreen on and don't forget to bring their expo passport.
Monday 21st - Year 5 to Year 8
Thursday 24th - Year 3 to Year 4
DHA PTA - Community Beach Clean Up
We had our last PTA@DHA meeting of Term 2 yesterday and our parent reps are busy preparing for our community beach clean up, Ramadan and our Term 3 initiatives.
We have two alternative dates to suggest to parents, please indicate which date you and your family would prefer by clicking the link below.
In the meantime, in the lead up to the event, we have some exciting activities for the children to get involved with both at school and during the spring break. This is a great opportunity for educational and fun learning experiences where students can learn about biology, sea life, their rights to live in an unpolluted environment, ocean preservation, wider sustainable development goals and much more! We will share more information about this initiative in next week's newsletter.
Inclusion & Wellbeing at DHA
A massive thank you to all of our parents who participated in our face to face Mbode workshop this week. We received such fantastic feedback and really appreciated your participation in the session. Watch this space for our schedule for upcoming workshops in Term 3.
We are celebrating a very special day at DHA with World Down Syndrome Day on Monday 21st of March. All students, staff and parents are encouraged to wear different socks to support spreading awareness about Down Syndrome, and all classes will be learning about Down Syndrome and engaging in special inclusion activities throughout Monday and next week at school.
PE & Sport at DHA
We've had another busy week in the PE department. Students have been working on improving their dolphin/butterfly kick in swimming and we have finished our rugby unit of work in PE. Next week all students will move back indoors due to the hot weather. Most year groups will begin basketball, with Year 5 & girls starting dance.
DASSA
Our Primary girls football team visited RGS for their second tournament of the season and our Secondary netball girls played against Nord Anglia School. The Year 5 & 6 athletics team also received their winners medals from last week’s event. A huge congratulations to them. Next week, we will again host a Primary girls football tournament at DHA and our netballers are set to play away to Brighton College, both on Wednesday 23rd March.
