Christmas Cheer en Espanol- Today
Know a Student in Need?
Just a reminder that if you see a student in need or if they verbalize that they have a need for clothing, shoes, backpacks, school supplies, hygiene products, food, etc your Student Advocate is here to help! We have a loving community that provides donations of the above-mentioned items and so much more and I'm here to help our Wolves get those things right here at school. Not just during Christmas, but everyday!
We know that it's Christmas season, but for so many of our kids, it's not Merry. Have a student in mind? Complete the form below and together, let's give our Wolves the opportunity to have a Merry Christmas! https://goo.gl/forms/9ew9n1X90BYIONi72
DMAC Roster Verification - Due Friday 12/15 (before you leave today)
Teacher Student Recommendations (Change of level)
1) Gather your evidence to support your recommendation.
2) Visit with Ali or Moises. During this step, counsleors will speak to the different parties involved and explain the steps that can and cannot be taken. This is when you will fill out the teacher recommendation form if there are not barriers to allow the change.
3) Counselors will bring your completed teacher recommendation to admin, where we will review and sign off on the proposed change.
*We have had incidents where teachers have proposed options to parents that are not allowable to those students based on our GCISD policy. i.e- A kid is doing great in PAP SS and you believe they should go to Discoveries SS. If the student has not qualified for GT, this is not an option our district will allow. By telling parents you recommend them for Discoveries SS, it gives the allusion that we can make that change, when in actuality, we can't without GT testing, etc. Remember when you speak as the teacher, you are also representing the district, so we must be sure that we are following district procedures.

Energy Conservation Shutdown- Thursday, December 21st (Striving for 100%)
Our holiday break is just around the corner which means many of our offices, classrooms and buildings will be closed for two weeks. Like last year, we are making a concentrated effort to shut down as much equipment as possible during the break. Extended breaks are great opportunities to eliminate unnecessary energy consumption, and your participation is greatly appreciated.
You have received an Energy Shutdown Checklist that specifies the tasks we are asking everyone to complete before leaving for the break. Please complete the checklist and tape it to the outside of your door or office area. Energy Specialist Monica Silva will begin auditing each room in the district starting after school on Friday, December 22.
Monica will share her audit reports with department leaders and campus administrators to see how well we participated in this holiday energy shutdown. Our goal is 100% participation, and we look forward to celebrating our success in this effort.
If you have any questions or concerns, contact Monica Silva at monica.silva@gcisd.net or 817-251-5605
We hope you have a great break and a very happy holiday!

A thankful howl goes to Johanna Rapisand for taking the lead while helping a few of our students. I appreciate your efforts more than you know! (Angela Stock)
An amazed howl goes to Nate Dunn and his class. Students are making balloon powered Lego-mobiles. The goal is to make a Lego car travel the farthest by using a balloon. Students have to problem solve, gather data, and make adjustments. Always a treat to watch! (Angela Stock)
