Fifth Graders Head to the Portland Youth Philharmonic
On Thursday, Westside's fifth graders traveled to the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, Oregon to attend a performance by the Portland Youth Philharmonic. Following the concert, students walked to Portland State University to observe their Chamber Choir Club sing. Ms. Hurley, Westside's music teacher, joined the choir for the performance because she was a member of the choir when she attended PSU!
When asked to share what they enjoyed about their trip, fifth graders shared:
"I like how they played different songs and different movements. I like how they gave little demonstrations with their instruments." ~Luis
"I like how the music and the singing were relaxing." ~Leo
"I like how they played the Bluey theme song!" ~Grace
"I like how the played the Pink Panther song." ~Ozzie
