8th Grade Washington DC Trip: Fall 50 & Grocery Bagging
Fall 50: The 8th Grade DC kids and their parents will have two opportunities to help with the Fall 50 in October. We are responsible for assembling packets on Wednesday, October 17 from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. This will take place in the middle school commons. Twelve helpers are still needed for packet assembly.
We are also responsible for working the Finish Area Approach on Saturday, October 20. There will be two (2) shifts that each need six (6) workers. The shifts on Saturday, October 20 are from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. and from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. To sign up to help with these you will have to email your name, date of birth, t-shirt size, email address and cell number to Heidi Hintz at th2hhintz@gmail.com or call the information in to her on her cell phone at 493-2290. All positions will be on a first come first serve basis. If you already emailed her with interest, please verify the required information and the shift you desire.
Grocery Bagging: There are still open spots for grocery bagging at Econo Foods this Saturday, September 15. If you can help fill the open spots, please contact Mrs. Hintz or sign up on the Facebook page.

Immunization Information
Unfortunately, the state program for school immunization clinics has been scaled back for this year. Door County Public Health Department is only able to provide seasonal influenza vaccine for students in middle and high school. Tdap immunizations must be provided by the clinic or family physician. Please know that at the Health department we are still able to provide Tdap, free of charge, regardless of insurance status, to any adolescents or adults. Appointments are available from 10:00 -11:30 a.m. and 1:30 - 4:00 p.m. on Wednesdays. You may call 920-746-2234 to make an appointment. DCPH is able to provide other vaccines if clients have Badgercare, Medical Assistance, are Alaskan native, or Native American, or have private insurance that does not cover vaccines.

Sturgeon Bay United Way's own Dakota Townsend is collaborating with Jenny Spude providing monthly food tastings for Healthy Door County.
Something new this year is letting parents know what healthy food is available, the health benefits of that food, and a recipe in hopes that parents will start using those fruits and veggies in their homes. Check out September's Food of the Month: Cucumbers.
