11 Principles of Character Education
In the ethical as in the intellectual domain, students are constructive learners, they learn best by doing.
Students make choices between cheating and upholding academic integrity, between treating others with caring and treating them with disrespect, and between caving into negative peer pressure and standing up for what they believe is right.
When active learning encourages students to exercise their judgement, to raise their voices, and to play significant roles, the experience both interests students more and yields better learning outcomes.
In schools where moral action is central to students' learning and character development, ensuring that students are on ---and know that they are on--an action pathway is an important goal.
