Congratulations DISD Business Partner of the Year!

Stellar Performance
Congratulations to the varsity band. On Saturday, April 22 the band performed at the 47th annual Sandy Lake Music Festival and for the 16th year in a row earned a First division trophy. A First division rating is the highest score possible for a judged music performance in Texas. All three judges awarded the band this rating.
Additionally, congratulations to the non-varsity band members, who for the 7th year in a row earned a First division rating/trophy. Again, all three judges awarded the non-varsity group this First division rating.
Thank you to all the Marsh band members for their hard work and for representing our school so well, year after year.
Checkmate!
The Marsh Grandmasters Chess Team showed great determination and commitment at their tournament in Southlake on Saturday, April 15. 11 students from 6-8 grade took the trip out to play a four round tournament against a wide field of private schools and coached teams.
These boys represented Marsh extremely well as the only public school in attendance! Eighth grader Nicholas Davidson earned second place in the Novice bracket, Kevin Cabrera earned third place in reserve bracket, Emanuel Alcantar earned second place in reserve bracket, and the Marsh team earned first overall! Our scholars performed excellently and have proven their skill well-over!
Saturday, May 13, four students met me in front of the school with a singular goal: we were going to win the district chess tournament. We've met for countless morning and after school practice hours, argumentative in-depth analysis, online tournaments, travel tournaments, stunning victories, and crushing losses.
Today was a different kind of day. The students that met me this morning were not filled with middle school cockiness, but instead preparedness, confidence. We had a vision and were intent on achieving it.
Sixth grader Angel Carrillo won a bronze medal, scoring three wins and one loss.
Seventh grader Moises Juarez won a bronze medal, scoring three wins and one loss.
Eighth grader Kevin Cabrera won a silver medal, scoring three wins and one draw.
Eighth grader Emanuel Alcantar won a gold medal, scoring four wins. Undefeated.
The Marsh Matador Grandmasters scored a combined thirteen wins, two losses, and one draw, placing FIRST overall; each player received an additional gold medal for the team effectiveness.
Kevin Cabrera was also awarded the Most Valuable Player award for his dedication, support, and effort given to the team this year.
Marsh is now home to the DISD District Chess Champions!

Marsh at Earth Day Texas
Marsh participated in Earth Day Texas this year! This event was April 21st through the 23rd from 9 am to 6 pm at Fair Park. Mr. Langton and his artists supplied the art to display. Ms. Bacon and Ms. Davidson planted recycled seeded paper in Dixie cups with kids of all ages.
Ms. Bacon also brought a variety of Science objects to teach the students other interesting facts about our planet earth. We received many compliments on our students' artwork and exhibit. Several alumni and previous teachers came by too. What a great weekend to showcase all the great things we have at Marsh!
An impactful performance!
Who says STAAR can't be fun!
The STAAR Games were last Saturday an "outside of the box" and "outside of the classroom" event. We played STAAR BINGO to review STAAR vocabulary used in questions. We ran a STAAR relay to review figurative language task cards, and we played "The The-a-Tah" which had the kids on the outside stage performing a drama text from a previous STAAR test before answering the analyzation questions that followed.
The weather was beautiful, and the kids loved being outside!
Thank you Ms. Downs and everyone on your team for making this a success!
Orchestra Fun!
Marsh at Model UN
Several of our students had the incredible opportunity to participate in Model United Nations this week. Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an extra-curricular activity in which students role-play delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees.
In Model United Nations, students step into the shoes of ambassadors from U.N. member states to debate current issues. Model UN aims to educate participants about civics, effective communication, globalization and multilateral diplomacy. In Model United Nations, students take on roles as foreign diplomats and participate in a simulated session of an intergovernmental organization (IGO). Participants research a country, take on roles as diplomats, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to world problems.
Marsh participated by representing the country of China. Our students spent many hours studying the culture, government, and issues impacting that country. We are very proud of how well they presented at the conference. They were delegates not only of China but true representatives of Marsh Prep Academy.
From our Athletic Department
Girls and Boys Athletics will be part of our schedule next year. We will have only 35-40 of our best students that are committed to playing multiple sports on campus and further development as athletes. Only 7th and 8th grade students are allowed to participate in Athletics.
