A Note From The Principal
Greetings Parents & Scholars,
I cannot believe how fast time has passed! We have completed our first quarter. It seems like just yesterday we opened our doors to a new school year full of endless possibilities. It has been a year of many first-time experiences. On Wednesday, October 14 we will have our first Virtual Parent In Touch (PIT) Day. Our teachers have contacted each of you to schedule a time for your individual conference. It is important that we have 100% participation; we are a team and we cannot do this without you. The success of our scholars is important to each of us and is at the center of Phalen Leadership Academies Core Values (Children First).
Here is what you should look forward to on this day. They will review with you your scholar’s academic portfolio. This will include but not limited to a discussion of your scholar's homework grades, weekly assessments and your scholar's NWEA results. They will discuss any behavior or attendance concerns. They will also provide you with your access to Infinite Campus. This is the database used to manage our grades, attendance and assessments. You will find it to be a valuable tool designed to keep you informed.
Please make sure you read the remainder of our newsletter. It has some important dates and upcoming campus activities for our scholars. I would like to start a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) program on our campus and need your feedback. Please check your email this week and respond. STEM fields are growing each day and they continue to play a major role in our economy. Our scholars can be the next George Washington Carver. He was an African American scientist and innovator who created hundreds of products. HIs legacy and innovations still have an impact in our lives today. Together we can achieve anything!
Scholars First,
Dr. Sue Starr
Parent In Touch Day
Due to our COVID-19 protocols, all PIT Day conferences will take place on Zoom. Your scholar's teacher should have already provided you with your scheduled conference time. If you are unable to make your scheduled time, please reach out to your scholar's teacher to reschedule. It is important that we have 100% parent participation in this event.
The direct links to each teacher's Zoom conference room can be found in the following document. The remaining links will be added throughout the weekend.
