Spring Forward
Jenison High School Families
Jenison High School Families,
May is a time for celebration! The spotlight is on the Class of 2024 as we honor them during our Honors Night and Commencement ceremonies. If you have a senior this year, please remind them of our Senior Checkout Form which must be submitted to participate in the Commencement ceremony. Checkout forms will be delivered via Advisory on Wednesday, May 1, and can be turned in starting on May 6. Copies are also available in the Main Office. One aspect of the checkout form is Chromebook turn-in, so students should not turn in their checkout form until they are certain that they will not need their Chromebook for their exams.
Advanced Placement exams begin the week of May 6. Good luck to all of our testers. We are so proud of our AP programs which result in numerous college credits earned and thousands of dollars in scholarships.
Be sure to review the "Upcoming Events' section below so that you can join us in celebrating our amazing students.
Go Wildcats!

News From Transportation
Dear Jenison High School Families:
Please take a moment to complete the link below to continue/sign up for bussing for your students who attend JPS. The Transportation Department needs all students who will need bussing next school year to re-sign up by June 1, 2024.
Even if you have transportation already you will still need to submit the form for next school year. This must be done before June 1. If you sign up after June 1, you will not be guaranteed busing.
Click here to complete the JPS Online Transportation/Bussing Request for the 2024/25 School Year
Please contact our Transportation Department at 616-457-3740 before June 1, 2024 if you have any questions regarding this process.
Technology - End of the School Year Plan for Student Chromebooks
Students not returning to JPS next school year, including current 12th-graders:
If you are NOT returning to JPS next school year, you must return your Chromebook, charger, and carrying case to the Media Center on your last day of school (if you are a senior, this would be during the week of May 6-10). If we do not receive your Chromebook and charger, we will begin the process of repossessing these items. For those graduating, your diploma will be held until your Chromebook is returned. Chromebooks returned with damages will be repaired and you will be invoiced for the cost of the repair if you did not purchase the Technology Protection Plan.
Current 9th - 11th graders (returning next school year):
You will be keeping your Chromebook, charger, and carrying case at home with you over the summer. You should be aware that your Chromebook will be locked (unable to be used) until August 13, 2024. If you are taking a summer enrichment program (such as summer school) and will need to utilize your Chromebook for school work, please submit a Helpspot ticket - include your name, the program that you are going to be a part of, and the dates you will need the device to be unlocked.
If your Chromebook requires repairs, please return your device and accessories to the Media Center on the last day of school so that your Chromebook is repaired over the summer and ready for pick up at orientation. You will be invoiced for repair costs if you did not purchase the Technology Protection Plan.
Students keeping their Chromebooks over the summer must review the device care instructions below:
Store your device in a clean and protected environment.
Do NOT store the technology in a dusty or dirty environment.
Do NOT store the technology in an area exposed to extreme temperatures, hot or cold.
Do NOT leave the technology exposed to direct sunlight or near any heat or moisture sources for extended periods of time.
Before the first day of school, please charge your device fully, log into your device, and keep your device online and connected to wifi for at least 24 hours to ensure your device is fully updated.
Student ID/Keycards -
Students must hold onto their keycard/ID that they were issued this school year because they will need this for the remainder of high school. Keycards are necessary for access into the Senior High building. If your student has misplaced or has a damaged keycard/ID then there will be a $10 replacement fee for a new keycard/ID. We highly encourage all of our students to wear their keycard/ID during the school day. More information will be sent out in the August Welcome Back to School Newsletter.

All seniors who complete their FAFSA will receive a $25 Amazon gift card this year. How can we help? Please reach out to your student's counselor with questions!

Juniors
If your junior is considering college after high school graduation, we hope that you will join us for an information night on Wednesday, May 15 at 7pm in the media center. We'll talk about the college timeline and important information about the application and scholarship process to help prepare you before applications open on August 1.
Miles for Smiles
Miles of Smiles will once again have a dental bus available to service the Jenison School District. Please click on link below for more information.
Food Delivery Process
Food deliveries from outside vendors are only allowed during the lunch periods. Students will not be allowed to leave during class periods to pick up food orders from outside vendors. There is a delivery table outside of the main office for food order drop off/pick up.
Attendance/Appointment Call-In Process
Help us minimize classroom disruption during instructional time
Regular attendance is crucial to success in school. Parents, if your student misses school, please be sure to call our attendance line (616-457-3400, option 1) to excuse the absence prior to the start of the school day. If your student has an appointment during the school day and needs to be dismissed from classes, please call the office before the start of the school day and leave this information on the attendance line. By following this process, it will avoid disruption of staff calling into classrooms during instructional time for students to come to the office to sign out. Calling in prior to the start of the school day, the attendance office can provide your student with a pass to leave at the requested time. We greatly appreciate your help with this process.
Reminder: New Feature - Submit attendance through PowerSchool
