🐬 Week of November 2, 2020
Hollinger's Island Elementary School
1st quarter was scheduled to end on November 2nd. We are hoping for an extension, but will let you know, one way or the other.
- Grades for first quarter will count, so if your child is doing remote but has not been signing on, or has not been turning in assignments, it will be nearly impossible for them to pass first quarter. We cannot help them be successful in school if they are not participating and doing their part.
- Parents please check your emails for your child's weekly progress reports. Also please check Schoology to see that your children are turning in their assignments, whether they are doing either face-to-face or remote learning. We have many remote students who are not turning in assignments. It will be nearly impossible for those students to pass first quarter, or for their teachers to fully catch them up. Even if they are telling you they are signing on, and doing their work, they many not be.
- Mr. Threadgill has announced that parents will still have the option of remote learning for 2nd quarter. HOWEVER, you are only allowed one change-of-mind. For example, if you started the year face-to-face, then went remote, your choice is remote for the rest of the year.
Parents of remote students... it is imperative that your child is online and in class ON TIME!
For car riders.... no more DIY hang tags!
After Wednesday of this week we will no longer accept DIY hang tags during afternoon car line pickup. This is a safety issue for our children, as anyone could create such a tag and pick up your child. Different teachers work afternoon carpool, and they do not know all the parents of all our students. We are happy to make as many signs as you need- just let your child's teacher know. After Wednesday, if you do not have the appropriate hangtag, you will be required to park and submit an ID to pick up your child/ren. Keeping our students safe is our number one priority!
Unless they are ill, please have your child/ren at school every day! Absenteeism, especially chronic absenteeism, negatively affects a student's progress in school.
If a student is doing face-to-face and needs to miss a day, they are marked absent. Students are not allowed to miss a day and do their work remotely, with the expectation of being marked present for the day. It simply doesn't work that day.
