St. Columba's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 9 | 1 APRIL 2021
Loving Father, as we come to the end of another term we turn to you in confidence and place any difficult relationships into the healing hands of Jesus, your Son.
May the holiday be for us a time of rest and recreation to help restore us and re-create us in your image and likeness, as we enjoy more of the love and presence of our families, on whom we ask your blessing.
Amen.
From the Principal
Dear St Columba’s school community,
As members of a Catholic school community, Holy Week is a time to stop and reflect on the real meaning of Easter. I encourage you all, at some point throughout the Easter weekend, to take a moment to pause and think about the significance of Easter and how we can use this in our everyday lives.
Congratulations to all our swimmers who took part in the CAPSS Interschool Swimming Carnival. It was a great display of sportsmanship by all students and they should be proud of their individual and group achievements. Well done to everyone involved in this event.
A big thank you to parents for taking time out of busy schedules to attend the Parent/Teacher interviews this week. The feedback from both staff and parents was very positive. A reminder to all parents that teachers are always available after school or via email to discuss any issues about your child. A gentle reminder to make sure that you consider the time that emails are sent to teachers. Staff will not be replying to emails after 4:30pm. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Today, the Year 6 class guided the Year 1 to 5 students through the story of Easter with the Passion Play in the Church. Yet again, the reflective nature and respectful attitude that the students displayed was wonderful. This liturgy was a great way to conclude a very busy term.
Lastly, WOW! The Edu-Dance Concert was magnificent. Every week the students have thoroughly enjoyed learning and practising their class dance and today they all shone at the concert! Well done and thank you to the Edu-Dance coordinators, our staff and most importantly the students.
I would like to congratulate our Assistant Principal, Ms Alison Purvis and her fiancé, Edward, on their pending wedding during the school holidays. We wish them all the best for the day and a lifetime of happiness.
To finish off a fantastic term, I would like to wish everyone a happy and holy Easter and a relaxing holiday. For those that may be travelling around our beautiful state, please stay safe. I look forward to seeing everyone return for Term 2.
God Bless
Rebecca Clarke
Principal

Interschool Swimming
On 30 March at Fremantle Leisure Centre the students in Years 4 to 6 attended the CAPSS Inter School Swimming Carnival. The students represented St Columba’s over various swimming strokes, distances, and relays against five other schools.
The students showed great sportsmanship cheering the school and its competitors on. The school swimming squad was awarded FIRST place based on the average points per students and FIRST place based on their raw score. Many of our students put forward a massive effort often finishing strong at the end of their races.
Congratulations to the students below who received individual awards:
- Scarlett awarded Year 6 Runner up Girl,
- Chayse awarded Year 5 Champion Boy,
- Spencer awarded Year 4 Champion Boy
- Anabella awarded Year 4 Champion Girl.
We are proud of our students’ efforts, displaying their swimming abilities and being excellent representatives of their school.
Kind regards
