From the Principal:
I am so excited for our year together to begin. Our theme for the 2020-2021 school year is "Rise Above" We all know we are facing uncertain times right now, but at Eastside Elementary I can assure you that we will "Rise Above" the uncertainty and have a successful school year. Your child's physical, emotional, and educational well-being are all at the top of our priority list. I look forward to working with each of you as we RISE ABOVE. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or if I can help you in any way.

SCHOOL HOURS
- Doors open at 7:15 am each day.
Tardy Bell rings at 7:40 AM each day.
Dismissal is at 2:45 PM.
IMPORTANT INFO - COVD/SOCIAL DISTANCING
2- Students will eat breakfast in the classroom. Teachers will wear gloves and serve students breakfast.
3- All classrooms will eat in the cafeteria at least two times per week. Kindergarten classes will eat in the cafeteria every day. When in the cafeteria eating, students will be seated 6 feet apart. Social distancing will be maintained while in the lunch line.
4- All students and staff will have their temperature taken before entering the building each day. If your temperature is above 100.0, then that student may not stay at school.
5- Communication between our families and school staff is more important than ever now. Please be sure to communicate if your child has tested positive for COVID-19 or if they or a family member are being quarantined due to COVID-19.
6- Car dismissal will look different this year. All students will stay in the classrooms and be dismissed from there. This can take much longer so our district is in the process of purchasing a program to make this run smoother. However, until this happens, please be patient with us as this process will take more time than usual so we can maintain the proper social distancing to keep everyone safe.

MEET OUR NEW STAFF
BACK TO SCHOOL JITTERS
Most all of us have gotten out of our normal routines over the past five months; however, there are several strategies that you can use to help get your kid(s) back into the school routine and to make the transition easier for them (and for you)! Validation: Let your child know that it is normal to feel nervous about the new school year and that even the adults at school experience nervousness at the beginning of the year. Please encourage your child to share his/her feelings with you. Morning Routines: Plan for a simple morning routine and talk with your child about what the routine will be. Give praise when your child follows the morning routine and is ready on time. Homework: Provide a structured time and place for your child to complete homework. Providing snacks and positive feedback are great ways to motivate your child to complete homework. Bedtime: An earlier bedtime routine is one of the most difficult changes for kids. Having a nighttime schedule and setting time limits on TV, video games, etc. is necessary for students to have time to wind down before bed.
