Middle School Model UN General Assembly
Friday, April 3, 2020
Eighth Grade students will travel to the Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, Illinois, on
Wednesday, April 22, 2020. We will travel to several historic sites in Springfield, Illinois on a coach bus and enjoy a buffet pizza lunch at Pizza Lunch. Several chaperones are needed for the trip. Please read the form carefully to sign up to be a volunteer. This trip will be an all-day trip. We will board the bus at 7 a.m. and return around 6 p.m.
The permission slip and fees are due on Friday, March 27, 2020.

EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE OF THE HARLEM RENAISSANCE
Students finished their posters for one extraordinary person as we continued our celebration of the centennial of the Harlem Renaissance.
Students designed and created a Heritage Postage Stamp as well as completed an annotated bibliography for their research.
STATEHOOD
How does a state become a state?
This week, we briefly discussed the first three states to ratify the U.S. Constitution-Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Constitution went into effect on June 21, 1788, after ratification by 9 of the 13 states, and the federal government began operations under it on March 4, 1789.
The process of creating a new state is written in Article IV, Section 3 of the Constitution.
