High Expectations:
Every Scholar, Every Day
A Word from Principal Haynes
Greetings Parents,
The week ahead is a short one! Don't forget Early Release Day on Thursday. Dismissal for PK scholars is at 12:10PM and for K-5 scholars it is at 1:10PM. Also, there is no school on Friday it is a Teacher Planning Day.
We have TWO exciting school-wide events this week! On Wednesday, we are asking all scholars to wear PINK in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Then on Thursday, we have HOUSE WARS!!! Scholars will dress up in the color of their "house". If you don't know what house they are in, please contact the teacher. Houses and the colors are listed below. Please make sure your scholar has permission to participate in photos for website and yearbook or we won't be able to include them in the pictures. If you said "NO" to Part B in the first day papers, we cannot take their picture.
Please continue to support us with high expectations of excellent scholar behavior every day. Behavior is not just about how they act, but their academics too. In order for us to be an A school, we have to believe it and act like one. Please support us! We NEED you!
Stop by the Sunrise Fire Station 72 on W. Oakland Park Blvd on Thursday, October 18th from 5PM to 8PM for an Open House. They are opening their doors so residents can get to know them better, receive important safety tips, and generally let them entertain you! Games, activities, tours, and free hot dogs and hamburgers!! Stop by and say you're there from Village!!
Let's make this another great week of High Expectations--Every Scholar--Every Day!!!
Wishing you an AMAZING and BLESSED week!!

House Colors for House Wars
The school has been divided up into four houses to create a sense of competition for house points. Houses are awarded points for scholar and teacher attendance, performance on checkpoint assessments and iReady, and scholar behavior. Points are deducted for infractions. On Thursday, the houses will have a "House Meeting" to discuss their status and a House Champion will be determined.

Field Trip Expectations
Field trips are an opportunity for us to provide scholars with exposure to many activities and events throughout the county and state. We want our scholars to participate and field trips are open to ALL scholars. That said, I need YOU in partnership with us to explain to scholars expectations regarding behavior. When teachers take scholars off campus, it is imperative that they know and understand how to LISTEN to adults and are responsible to stay with the group. The last thing I want is for a child to get lost and/or hurt on our watch. Make sure that you have conversations with your child about this.
If your child has been struggling with maintaining appropriate behavior on campus, it MAY become necessary for administration to have a conversation with you about whether or not the field trip is appropriate for your child. If you are in doubt, talk with your child's teacher about their behavior. Field trip payments are non-refundable and I don't want anyone to lose money because of their child's poor choices. Let's partner together to make sure our scholars understand the expectations of field trip participation.

- November 7: 2nd-3rd Grade Charlotte's Web- Payment Collection ends 10/23
- November 7: 5th Grade The Wright Brothers- Payment Collection ends 10/23
