VICKERS MUSIC PROGRAM
March is a very vibrant (and busy!) month in the Band/Music program! At a glance:
- The choir performed at the Music Festival on Thursday, February 29th and represented Vickers very well!
- Mon-Tues. March 4th-5th - Instrumental solos and small ensembles (including Gr. 4 northern spirit flute ensemble) will be taking place at Messiah Lutheran Church. We will transport big instruments there by vehicle, and the students will be bussed to and from the school for their performances. Public is welcome to attend. No tickets required, but there will be a silver collection at the door if you would like to donate.
- Thursday, March 14th - all Gr. 5-8 bands will perform at the Music Festival from 12:45-3:00pm in the big gym here at Vickers. Parents are welcome to attend!
- Friday, March 15th - bus leaves at 3:45pm for those students who have signed up to attend the band trip to Saskatoon to see the University of Saskatchewan Wind Ensemble concert. ETA back at the school is 11:00-11:15pm but stay tuned for updates en route.
Thank you everyone for your hard work leading up to the Music Festival. You will represent our school well, and I have truly enjoyed seeing your growth through the process of preparing for your performances! Once the festival season winds down we will be in spring band trip planning mode, so stay tuned for more information coming your way. Please reach out to Ms. Lohneis if you’re interested in working a bingo shift to help offset the cost of your child’s upcoming band or choir trip.

HIGH SCHOOL JUST AHEAD
Grade 8 families,
It is now time to start thinking about registering your students for high school.
We have three fantastic high schools in the Sask Rivers School Division. Your child will be learning more about each school in the near future; however, if you are wanting to book tours, please feel free to contact the high schools to get more information on booking your tour.
PEDESTRIAN SAFETY
Our staff parking lots are a “no drop off zone” as they are out of bounds for students.
We urge parents to support us in this safety endeavor by dropping off your children on the west side of the school on Olive Diefenbaker Drive; on Bradbury Drive, east of the Special Needs bus zone and between Gisi Road and Olive Diefenbaker Drive.
We encourage the children to cross all streets in a safe manner by crossing at the corner or at cross walks. Teacher supervision is also provided at our major crosswalks.
The Community Club rink parking lot is the bus pick up zone after school for our parents to meet their children for pick up. Please refrain from turning around in the driveways, as this is disruptive to the homeowners.
