JR2 Attendance Policy
Please take a moment to read through the Jackson R-2 School District attendance policy here. The intent is to work in partnership with families to ensure high levels of student attendance. This information can also be found in the elementary handbook linked below.
iPad and Chromebook Insurance
Students entering K-12th grade for the 2023-2024 school year will, once again, receive a personal computing device. Please click the links below for further instructions and to purchase insurance for your student’s device. You will need your child's student ID number. This was sent in an email from Janelle Pope titled Device Insurance. This optional insurance policy provides peace of mind. The replacement of each device can cost upwards of $300, and some common repairs, such as a cracked screen, can cost as much as $70.00.

If you have more than one student in grades K-12, you will have to register and purchase insurance for each student. There is a family cap of the cost of three students per family, so if you have more than three students, please contact Mr. Jason Bruns at jbruns@jr2mail.org. He will ensure you will receive insurance coverage for the entire family for the cost of three insurance waivers ($75.00 total).
Please let me know if you have any questions, and have a great day!
Sincerely,
Janelle Pope, Ed.S.

DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP PROCEDURES
Drop-Off:
Drop off time is from 7:25-7:55 am. Staff members will be on duty during this time. Students are dismissed to class at 7:50 am.
Please pull around the back of the building and drop off by the second entrance (cafeteria door). Allow for buses to drop students off first. Please do not get between or in front of the buses.
It is also best to have your child seated on the passenger side of your vehicle. It is much easier and quicker for them to get out on the side closest to the building.
Say your goodbyes prior to getting in the lane.
It is best if you remain in your vehicle at all times when driving through the lanes.
If you no longer see a teacher on duty (after 7:55), you will need to park your vehicle in the front parking lot and walk your child in the building. Most likely, the tardy bell has rung and you are required to sign them in.
K-2nd students will eat breakfast or go to their assigned area in the cafeteria before heading to class at 7:50 am.
Our first priority is your children’s safety; therefore, please follow all of our drop off procedures.
Pick-Up:
K-2nd:
The dismissal bell will ring at 3:10 pm. Certified staff will be on duty during pick up.
All K-2nd students will be dismissed in the back of the building.
Students will be seated in the gym.
Please drive your vehicle to the back of the building and stop at the “Stop Here” sign.
Make sure to have your KIDAccount scan card (You will be given this at Open House or from the office at a later time.) that has your child’s name on it and your photo ID.
Be sure to pull all the way forward when picking up your child (there is a sign that says STOP HERE to designate this area). Once our first round of pickups are through, the next empty car will stop at the sign.
Remain in your vehicle at all times when driving through the lane.
All parent pickups should be out of the lane by 3:30pm.
Our first priority is your children’s safety; therefore, please follow all of our pick up procedures.
Buses:
K-2nd:
Buses will arrive at Gordonville Elementary at approximately 3:35 pm.
Certified staff will walk students to their buses.
It will take approximately 5-10 minutes to load the buses and for them to pull away from school.
Buses will use the same lane as parent pickup. All pickup traffic should be out of the lane no later than 3:30 pm.
Thank you very much for being familiar with our drop off and pick up procedures. If another adult (grandma, uncle, etc.) drops off/picks up your children, please make them knowledgeable of our procedures. If you have any questions, please contact the office at 243-9580.
Volunteers Needed!
Volunteers are an essential part of the Jackson R2 School District. Volunteers enhance the efforts of staff members by working with students, helping with school activities and assisting with clerical duties. Jackson R2 volunteers are part of the school team and enrich district activities by increasing productivity and effectiveness.
Volunteer activities include direct interaction in the classroom, including listening to students read, providing individual assistance to students, and assisting with class activities. Volunteers are also needed for indirect interaction such as copying materials, assisting with classroom or school decorating, and helping prepare activities for students. Volunteers may also assist by working on projects at home. Examples include, cutting bulletin board materials, preparing materials for a class activity and tabulating book orders. Please take a moment to read through our Jackson R2 School District Volunteer Handbook to learn more about our volunteer program.
Before volunteering, individuals must complete a Volunteer Application. A Missouri Request for Child Abuse or Neglect/Criminal Record form will need to be completed if volunteers are interested in working directly with students. Once all paperwork has been processed, volunteers will be given an assignment.
The Jackson R2 School District Volunteer program is a "school-based" program. Each school in the district determines its unique needs and the kinds of services to be provided to meet those needs. For more information contact the building office (573) 243-9580 or the superintendent's office (573) 243-9501.
