BPMS News
Hello Baker Prairie Community!
What a busy week coming back from spring break! We have been engaging 8th graders in forecasting classes for 9th grade and be sure to ask your child about the career fair today. They had the opportunity to hear from three people representing three careers.

A Cool Opportunity for a Baker Prairie Student
Connor Holden, an 8th grader at Baker Prairie, is competing this weekend in the national Drive Chip & Putt competition at Augusta National Golf Club. He is one of only 10 qualifiers in his age group and had to win a state and regional competition to qualify. What a huge accomplishment! A local news station ran a story on Tuesday night highlighting the story. Here is the link.

Student SEED Survey
Canby School District will offer Oregon’s Student Educational Equity Development (SEED) Survey to students in grades 3-11, as required by Oregon law, during state testing this spring. The SEED Survey gives students the opportunity to voice their experiences in Oregon’s education system and is designed to capture their sense of belonging and experiences at school.
What is the SEED Survey?
It asks students about access to learning resources, learning opportunities, self-efficacy beliefs, and sense of belonging
Grades 6-11 includes questions about career-technical education and extracurricular activities
Grades 9-11 includes questions about post-graduation planning
Multiple choice, with additional open-ended questions for grades 6-11
Takes about 10-20 minutes to complete
Students may decline to answer individual questions
Oregon law (HB 2656) permits parents or guardians to decline to have their student participate in the SEED Survey. Any student who is excused from participating will have supervised study time or another learning activity while other students are completing the survey.
If you would like your student to participate in the SEED Survey, no further action is required.
If you do not want your student to participate in the SEED Survey, please click here to opt out. For Baker Prairie, please respond by Friday, April 5.
Library Texts
Canby School District libraries use CSD guidelines for selecting new texts. This school year, new titles for circulation will be posted quarterly on the CSD Library Curation web page to provide our community with this information. Please click here to learn more.
What's Cooking?
At school, there’s always a meal ready to be served!
Some mornings, it’s tough to find the time to make sure your kids are eating a nutritious breakfast. On those days, why not send them to the School Breakfast Program? Each meal meets government nutritional guidelines and standards. Schools are required to provide a breakfast meal that includes fruit, whole-grain rich items, and low fat or fat free milk. Check your child’s menu to see the variety of nutritious choices available at School Breakfast, or stop by to sample the food yourself!
