PRE-K 4 NEWS!!
JUAN DIEGO ACADEMY OCTOBER 7, 2015
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
We were excited to see how all the children did so well on their homework this past week! Please know that the pre-writing activities are introducing them to tracing on dotted lines. Some children have difficulty with pencil grasp and putting pressure on their pencil lines. You could help by holding their pencil hand to check for grasp and pencil pressure. You can do this for a few strokes and then let them try on their own. This is necessary in order for them to feel the writing process with your hand guiding them on some. Praise them on their effort.
We know most are having trouble so please don't worry. It is going to take them 1/2 the year to catch on. That is why we plan on sending some practice sheets as part of their homework assignment every week. We are hoping you will enjoy working with your child on their homework so that you can learn some vocabulary along with them and follow their writing progress.

And “How do animals use their mouths”- Como usan la boca los animals?”We will learn about the animals that live in trees. Read Aloud ““La mariquita malhumorada”.
Religion: This week we will be teaching about SAINTS. They are very special people that loved God so much and devoted their lives to God. We will mention special traits about each one in a very simple way so the children can understand the kind of love they had for God. Oct. 1st was the feast day of St. Therese the little flower, Oct. 2 was Guardian Angel day, and Oct 4th was St. Francis of Assisi Day. You may want to read more about the Saints in English to your children at home. We are sending an English explanation of our ALLELU religion pamphlet lesson each week so you can follow up and be able to ask them about what they drew on their pamphlet lesson.
Uniform news: Please be sure and note that school sweaters are the only sweaters the students can wear inside the classroom. If they bring just a navy cardigan that does not have the school emblem, they may wear it only outside. You may still order school sweaters from the office anytime. School sweaters need to be worn to Mass. We do sell used sweaters at a very low price at school. Label, label, label with your child's name.
Shoes: Boots are not allowed as part of the uniform even in the winter. They need to wear navy blue tights, white tights or knee high navy or white socks. Leggings are not allowed under skirts. Rain boots can be worn at recess but they need to bring their tennis shoes in their bookbags.
Thank you parents for taking the time to read these very long letter. Enjoy your weekend! Remember to send in homework folders on Mondays so we can refill it.
