ISSUE NO. 4 ⤁ January - 2022
The Winter Concert, A Night in December, featuring the WAHS Band, Chorus, and Orchestra was AMAZING! Below are pictures that captured moments throughout the night.
Congratulations to our WAHS Speech & Debate Team who recently competed at R.B. Stall and placed in several categories.
Congratulations to our WAHS December Students of the Month
Ciara White, 9th
“Ciara is in my first period class and she really helps me start my day off right with her attention, her questions, and her participation in class,” said Social Studies teacher Jessie Mintz. “She is a student I can always depend on to elevate class discussion or volunteer answers, and she helps keep the whole class focused. She’s a student that always says hi in the hallways, checks in with me and her classmates, and is an all-around awesome student. West Ashley is lucky to have her!”
Carlos Grace, 11th
“Carlos is a great student and an even better person,” said Science teacher Stacey Ancona. “He is willing to work with anyone, is always kind, and is the first to help out a struggling peer. He is respected by the faculty and his peers and is one of the most memorable students I have taught.”
Matthew White, 12th
“Matthew is a wonderful student and has a positive attitude in the classroom,” said Mathematics teacher Rachel Merriman. “Matthew always answers my questions when we are working through problems together as a class and he always has his work completed. He is a leader among his peers and can always be found helping the students sitting around him. Matthew is a joy to have in class and I’ve loved getting to know him!”
Great Job Ahmed Campos-Martinez!
Freshman Ahmed Campos-Martinez competed recently in the Francophone Festival, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French (SC Chapter), where he took 1st place in the French Level 1 category!!
During the competition, Ahmed spoke spontaneously about himself in French for one minute.
Zaye'Quan Smith
“Zaye got better with each game this season,” said Head Football Coach Donnie Kiefer. “He is a tremendous athlete who will have opportunities to play at the next level.”
