No School on Monday, September 4th! Happy Labor Day!
Picture Day Is Coming!
AM Kindergarten Parents: If you would like your child to be a part of the panoramic picture at 2:45 p.m., we ask that you bring your child back to school at 2:30 p.m. and meet us behind the building. You will have to stay with your child while waiting for the photo to be taken and then take your child home with you at the conclusion of the photo.
Emergency Drills
It is our number one concern to ensure your children are safe, both physically and emotionally. Thus, we have monthly drills. These drills range from Fire and Tornado, to an active intruder or lockdown. Last week, we successfully completed a fire drill and everyone evacuated the building in a safe and timely manner. Please reiterate to your children the importance of these drills, the importance of listening to the adults in charge, and how our jobs are to keep everyone safe.
Whitney Parent Volunteers
Throughout the year, parents and community members play a vital role in many educational activities that directly benefit the students and staff of Strongsville City Schools. There are a variety of different volunteer opportunities which can work into almost any schedule.
The activities listed here could use some volunteers. If you are interested in any of these areas, please check the appropriate box and return this form to your child’s teacher. We welcome any help and support you can give.
Parent Drop-Off and Pick-Up
When dropping off or picking up your children, there are 2 possible options.
1.) Stay in the car loop and wait until you are along the side of the building and your children can get out of/into your car.
* In the morning, please keep the line moving by leaving as soon as your child exits your car. Please do NOT wait and watch your child enter the building as this prevents the cars behind you from moving forward in the line to drop off their children.
* In the afternoon, we have 8 spots numbered along the side of the building for students to stand at as they wait for your car to pick them up. Please stay in line in these 8 spots instead of pulling out and around a car that may be waiting a minute for their child to arrive. When cars pull out to go around a waiting car, it causes the possibility for an accident at the parking lot crosswalk. Please be patient . . . it is usually just one or two minutes before the first line of 8 cars can safely exit, allowing the next 8 cars to move safely forward. (Honest . . . it hasn't taken more than 7 minutes each day to safely load all our pick-ups at dismissal.)
2.) Park in the auxiliary parking lot.
* If you are parking, then depending on your child's age and level of responsibility, they can walk to/from your car independently or you can get out of your car and greet them by the front doors.
Your help is appreciated in ensuring that all students remain safe.
