Weather-related closures
The decision to close is not made lightly. Many of our students rely on schools being open to receive meals, supervision and shelter. Schools will only close due to winter weather when road conditions are extremely adverse or when temperatures reach dangerous levels. Please review District 15's severe cold response plan to gain a better understanding of when schools may close due to cold conditions.
In the event that school does close due to severe weather, we will notify you in a number of ways including email, phone, text (for those who have entered their cell phone number in the "phone 2" category in Skyward), the district website, local news stations, the district's mobile app, and social media sites.
District protocols indicate that in the event of a weather-related closure, 12-month employees should still report to work as soon as they are safely able to do so. If that is not a possibility, staff may elect to use a personal or vacation day. Custodial staff should consult with their manager(s) regarding scheduling.

The Center's founder, Dr. Sharroky Hollie, spoke to a large group of staff from several schools during Institute Day this week. His message on the "lightbulb moment" was inspiring to many in the room. Take a look at the video clip to hear from Dr. Hollie.
