SeeSaw: At Home Learning Codes Released
The best way for students to access the Class App from home is with individual home learning codes. Home learning codes allow students to sign in to Seesaw, view their journal, add posts, complete activities they’ve been assigned, and receive class announcements from their teachers. Students do not see the work of other students in the class.
If students are using tablet or phone devices for home learning, they will need to download the Seesaw Class App onto their device. If they already have the class app on a home device, they will need to UPDATE the app for home learning codes to work. Students can also access the latest version of Seesaw from any computer at app.seesaw.me.
Teachers can access these codes with the instructions below:
- Sign in as a teacher from the WEB and tap the wrench icon. Home Learning codes can only be generated from a computer.
- Scroll down and tap ‘Home Learning Student Codes’.
- Print or Download codes to distribute to students. Each student will have a unique QR code and a 12-letter text code available as a PDF (one page per student) or CSV (by class or for all students taught by a teacher) that is valid for 90 days. Teachers can get a new code at any time.
- You do not need to change your class sign in mode.
Once signed in, a student will stay signed in for up to one year until they sign out. If a student code is compromised, you can reset the code for the student or the entire class under the wrench icon>Home Learning Codes.
Google Classroom: A Few Tips
2. Use the right kind of comment. There are several kinds of comments you can leave students in Classroom. Knowing how each one works can make you more efficient and effective.
- Adding class comments: Do this by adding a comment in your class stream on the “outside” of an assignment or announcement. This will make the comment visible to the entire class (important if it’s an answer to a question anyone might have).
- Adding private comments: Do this by viewing student results and clicking on an individual student. On the right, where you can see student submissions, the comment bar at the bottom adds a comment that only the student can see (important if it has sensitive grade or feedback information).
- Adding comments in a doc/slide/sheet/drawing: Do this by clicking on the student’s file that he/she submitted to you. Click the black speech bubble icon after highlighting something you’d like to comment on. This adds a a very pointed comment on specific items in student work (important to be very exact in feedback).
