Course Selection Process (9th through 11th graders)
Beginning Tuesday, March 5th at 2:30 pm the online request portal in PowerSchool will open for you to enter your course requests for the 2023 - 2024 school year. The portal will close on Wednesday, March 13th at 5:00 pm. Below are important links to the Program of Studies, PowerSchool instructions, and the Scheduling Documents/Timelines.
In addition, to assist you in making well-informed decisions, we have a helpful Time Management Calculator below. We encourage you to use this document when selecting courses to help outline the amount of time you are spending on all of your various commitments. We encourage you to review all the links below before making your course selections.
Over the past week, your teachers at the high school have submitted recommendations for you into PowerSchool. Our teachers are invested in this process and work collaboratively with their first semester colleagues when discussing the appropriate placement for you (if applicable). Teachers recommend courses and levels that both challenge you but that also offers you the best opportunity for success. We strongly encourage you to consider your teacher’s recommendations when signing up for courses. However, if you have not been recommended to take a course you were hoping to enroll in, please complete the Override Consideration form located in the Scheduling Documents/Timelines link below. You will be allowed one override request. Override forms are due by Friday, March 15th.
Please note that course requests can be entered from both the parent and student portal, but the data entered in one will overwrite the other. We recommend you collaborate with your parents and only enter requests under one account. And again, actually picking courses begins next Tuesday. If you have any questions, please contact your school counselor.

Hopkinton Organizing for Prevention
Join the Hopkinton Organizing for Prevention (HOP) Coalition on Friday, March from 12:30-3:30 at the HCA for Part 2 of the DEI training with Gina Morales that brings us on a journey through our individual identities, how they color our perception of the world (as well as how we’re perceived), and how they combine in a way that is sometimes more than the sum of their parts (aka Intersectionality). This dovetails with the notions of equity and inclusion --- specifically, how can we move towards fairness and eliminate identity-related obstacles in a diverse environment, and create a culture where everyone feels like they are celebrated, not merely tolerated.
Pizza, water, and light snacks will be provided. Students will earn 3 service hours.
Space is limited, if you sign up but cannot attend, please contact Cassandra at cbigness@hopkintonma.gov. If registration is closed, but you would like to attend, please email Cassandra to be put on a waitlist.

Hopkinton Parks and Recreation Department
The Hopkinton Parks and Recreation Department in collaboration with the Friends of Hopkinton Skate Park and the Hopkinton Freedom Team, will be hosting several FREE open Skateboard/BMX Jams leading up to the construction/completion of our new Skate Park at EMC park in 2024.
The Skate Jams are an opportunity for local skate park enthusiasts to ride together and build community prior to construction and opening of the new park. Representatives from the Friends of Hopkinton Skate Park will be on hand to answer questions from interested community members about the Skate Park, Skateboarding/BMX and the culture. These representatives are past or current Hopkinton residents who have a love for skateboarding/BMX and want to pass this on to both youth and adults. They will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate different obstacles and review some basic riding skills, and discuss the history and culture of Skateboarding.
Skateboard and BMX enthusiasts of all abilities and skill levels are encouraged to participate in this community based open riding event as we prepare for and celebrate the upcoming construction of a permanent town Skate Park at EMC.
These events are free but require registration.
