FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Father Doyle Families,
We began our Lenten journey together as a school community this past Wednesday with our Ash Wednesday service. We're looking forward to continued opportunities to gather in prayer including weekly Stations of the Cross and the opportunity for confessions for students in grades 3-8.
In his homily on Ash Wednesday, Pope Francis remarked that, during Lent, "we are invited to embark upon a journey on which, by defying routine, we strive to open our eyes and ears, but especially to open our heartsl" I pray that this Lent is a time of prayerful reflection and spiritual growth for you and your families.
We will also be kicking off our Lenten Food Drive next week. During the next five weeks, students may bring in suggested items to support the local food pantry. Next week (March 7th-11th) the suggested items are peanut butter and jelly. Thank you for your generosity!
Lastly, parents and families have recently been emailed additional guidance updates regarding masking, quarantine, and contact tracing efforts based recent communications with RIDOH. Please take time to review both Additional Guidance Regarding Masking, Close Contacts, and Quarantine as well as the Summary of Complete Updated COVID-19 Guidance. A reminder that, beginning Monday, March 7th masks are optional for students and staff.
Please stay up to date with the latest news and information by carefully reviewing the updates below:

COMING SOON: FJVD Read-a-thon!
The Annual Read-a-thon is returning to Father Doyle School!
Read-a-thons get your reader excited about reading and give friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more!
Our Read-a-thon will start Monday, March 28, 2022. About one week before our Read-a-thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress. We encourage you to activate your reader’s account at that time by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/IQUXHb/1 and following the simple instructions.
We've chosen a Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, it gives your child a reason to read, and promoting regular reading helps in the development of stronger reading skills. We hope everyone can participate!

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
