Red Ribbon Week
Student Council Penny Wars
2nd grade Mystery Science
This year at Disney, and across the district, we have adopted a new science curriculum for second grade. It is called Mystery Science and during October we completed the first unit called Erosion and Earth’s Surface. The students completed 5 experiments where they learned that water is powerful and has a major effect on the land. They learned about where rivers come from, how sand is developed, where flash floods are likely to happen, and even how to prevent erosion. It was an engaging week with lots of new discoveries and so much fun!

Student-Led Conferences are around the corner
We are looking forward to having our teachers meet with you and your child during Disney's Student - Led Conferences. During this time, students will showcase their goals and academic progress. It is important to include your child in these conferences so that they can take ownership of their academic plan for the year. Conference dates and times are as follows:
Wednesday, October 25th from 4:30 to 7:30 PM
Thursday, October 26th from 1:00-3:30 PM & 4:30-7:30 PM
Classroom teachers sent out conference invitations by Thursday, October 12th. If you did not receive your notice for any reason, please CLICK HERE to find the link to your child's teacher's Sign-Up Genius.
We look forward to seeing everyone at conferences. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Parent Access to CANVAS
All Fraser classroom teachers provide instruction, resources, activities, and assessments to students utilizing the Canvas LMS. As a result, students have continuous access to the course materials and information regarding their achievement.
Parents/Guardians can also have continuous access to their student’s course materials and grades in Canvas by creating a parent/observer account. In addition, parents of multiple students can easily switch between their students to view grades and assignments within the same parent account.
All sign up information and resources are provided on the Fraser website.
Important reminders when using Canvas:
- Canvas works best in Chrome
- Please do not install the Canvas app (for parents or students). We are not supporting it as our staff and students are utilizing the web-based version of Canvas and it looks and works differently.
- If you signed up and paired with your students last year, you still have access to those students and their new courses this year.
- If you need to add more students to your account this year, please follow the directions provided below.
- If you have forgotten your password, you can use the Forgot Password? link on the parent sign in page. Then, enter the email address you used to set up the account to receive a password reset email.
- If you have forgotten the email you used, please reach out to Kim Keith, Kimberly.keith@fraserk12.org, for additional assistance.
Virtual Library Cards
Opt-In to Receive a Virtual Library Card
Fraser Public Schools has teamed up with the Fraser, Clinton-Macomb, and Roseville public libraries to offer all our students a virtual library card.
Virtual library cards provide students to access a variety of free resources, including:
- Tutor.com: Free individualized tutoring
- OverDrive: Free eBooks and eAudiobooks
- Ancestry: Free genealogy research
Families must opt-in to participate in this free program. Please complete this form by October 20.
Families will receive an email with login information in November. Virtual cards can also be upgraded to a full library card at your home library for more borrowing privileges.
5th Grade Recorder Concert
On Wednesday, October 18th 5th-grade students from across the district showcased their talent at the Song Flute Concert. They have learned so much during the first few months of band. We are looking forward to seeing them grow as many of them join band this year.
Scholastic Bookfair coming soon
Dear Families:
Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. AND—as always—every purchase at the Fair benefits our school.
Here’s what you need to know about the big event, which will take place:
October 23rd-27th
Walt Disney Media Center
Open Late on October 25th during conferences
Say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.
If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Book Fair online. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Every online purchase will also benefit our school.

Halloween Around Disney
Classroom Activities: Classrooms/grade levels may be planning for Halloween activities and celebrations individually, either before or after the parade. If teachers request parent volunteers to help facilitate the classroom activities, all volunteers will have to submit a Background Check at least 48 hours prior to volunteering.
Costumes: Students may come to school in costume on Tuesday, October 31st. They can stay in costume for the duration of the day. Costumes need to be school appropriate and cannot depict violence or excess blood/gore. No fake weapons are allowed in school (i.e. toy guns, swords, blades, etc). Costume masks can be worn for the parade only, but not throughout the day. For costumes that have short skirts/shorts, leggings or pants need to be worn underneath.
Attendance Matters!
Did you know: Chronic absence is defined as missing 10 percent or more of the school year, which is equivalent to missing 2 days a month. It includes all absences, both excused and unexcused. Below are some strategies to help build a habit of good attendance.
Red Flag means Indoor Lineup
When the red flag is hung outside the front of the building, this means indoor line-up due to inclement weather. Our students can enter the building at 8:20! As a reminder, the bus loop is not a drop off zone, this area needs to stay open during arrival and dismissal times.
Fraser Goodfellows Holiday Assistance
The Fraser Goodfellows are once again providing holiday assistance for those in need. Assistance is available to Fraser Residents OR students attending Fraser Public Schools. Please see the flyer linked below for additional information, registration dates & location.
