UPCOMING BOARD COMMITTEE MEETING CANCELATION NOTICE - FACILITIES COMMITTEE
SAVE THE DATE: MAY 14 TOBACCO USE AND VAPING PRESENTATION
CR parents and community members are invited to attend a special presentation on tobacco use and vaping on May 14 at 7 PM in the Council Rock South Auditorium. Attendees will receive valuable information on such topics as:
- Effects of nicotine on learning and physical / mental health
- Vaping and transition from tobacco products
- The “JUUL” phenomenon
The evening will feature guest speaker, David Fialko, an internationally certified prevention specialist as a well as a nationally certified tobacco treatment specialist and a commissioned FDA officer. David has over 17 years experience working in the drug & alcohol and mental health fields in treatment, prevention, cessation & tobacco enforcement. This event is free of charge and open to the entire CR school community.
COUNCIL ROCK COMMUNITY AQUATIC PROGRAM
The Council Rock Community Aquatics Program summer brochure is now available. Classes include children’s swimming lessons (group and private), summer recreational swimming hours, and a competitive swim training program for swimmers 8th grade and up. Registration is held between 3-7pm Monday to Friday at the pool lobby area (door 3A) at Council Rock North. Please check our website at www.crsd.org/aquatics and click on summer 2019 to view the brochure and registration form. Registration continues until the classes are filled or the class begins. If you have any questions, please email Brian Johnson at bjohnson@crsd.org.
Friday night recreational swimming hours occur every Friday evening until Friday, May 17, 2019. The pool is open from 7:00-8:30pm on Friday nights and the cost is $4.00 at the door. Please check our website at www.crsd.org/aquatics for the full list of Rec Swim dates for the spring.

2019 CRSD SUMMER ACADEMIC AND STEM ACADEMY

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH STUDENT TAKES SECOND PLACE AT GREENFIELD YOUTH FILM FESTIVAL

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH SCORES TOP HONORS AT STATE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
The Council Rock North Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter returned from the Pennsylvania State Leadership Conference with an outstanding performance making this year a great success for the Council Rock North community. CR North’s FBLA Chapter members earned 27 individual and team awards during this annual state competition as 12 CRNHS students qualified for the 2019 National competition (red) by earning 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th place medals. Along with this great record of academic achievement was the fact that CR North’s FBLA Club captured 9th Place as one of Pennsylvania’s largest chapters and attained the Gold Seal and Outstanding Chapter awards as one of the most active chapters of 664 FBLA Chapters across Pennsylvania.
NEWTOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL BRINGS HOME BUCKS COUNTY READING OLYMPICS BLUE RIBBONS
On Tuesday, April 9, twenty-six students from Newtown Middle School competed in the Bucks County Reading Olympics event, held at Unami Middle School. Both teams brought home blue ribbons for their outstanding work. Students competed in three rounds of questions based on forty-five books selected by librarians across the county. The competition, which is designed to be a celebration of reading, lived up to its goal!

CREF ANNOUNCES 2019-2020 INNOVATIVE LEARNING GRANTS IN STEAM
At the April 25th board meeting, CREF announced $47,000 in Innovative Learning Grants to Council Rock teachers to benefit thousands of students through creative S.T.E.A.M. learning. Fifteen awardees were honored with grants that will be implemented in the 2019-2020 school year. Please join CREF in congratulating our honorees:
