What's Happening in The Den
D is for Determination
As we gear up for that final springtime push into summer, it is important to encourage our scholars to continue to tap into the determination that resides within each of them. With the many tasks that await, it is through this tenacity that we will end the school year on a high note.
Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade scholars will take the Milestones Assessment this week. We are challenging them to accomplish the following 4 BIG Rocks each day:
Perfect Attendance
At school all 5 days for 3rd & 4th
At school all 6 days for 5th
On Time Arrival
In class by 7:40AM
Active Engagement
Actively completing the test
Staying awake & alert
Purposeful use of scratch paper
Review test before submitting
Use of Scratch Paper/Test Tools
ELA 1: outline/graphic organizer for writing
ELA 2: Story Map/Quick jot of response
Math 1 & 2: Solve every problem on scratch paper
Scholars will earn a ticket to the Silent Disco Party for meeting all 4 big rocks each testing day. We know they have worked hard this year to prepare to show what they know on this test. Please make sure that they go to bed on time each night and encourage them to do their BEST!

During the Barnett Shoals Kindergarten Round-Up, your scholar will be welcomed into an inviting environment to get them excited about school! Scholars will take a brief series of kindergarten readiness assessments with our kindergarten teachers. While students are getting to know the teachers, families will participate in an informational session about Barnett Shoals Elementary, learn more about our school community, and provide time for you to connect with other kindergarten families.
