60 SECONDS WITH THE SUPERINTENDENT
Even though the weather might not have seemed so, this week marked a sure sign of spring - it was Kindergarten Registration Week for our District. The Class of 2030 was established as parents of our kindergarten students filled out the online forms and brought the necessary documents to enroll their children for classes in the fall. Click HERE for this week’s episode, as Mr. Marino (Kinsner Principal) and Dr. Raso (Surrarrer Principal) explain what makes kindergarteners a very special part of our District.
SUPERINTENDENT RYBA TESTIFIES IN COLUMBUS
Last week, Superintendent Cameron Ryba had the opportunity to travel to Columbus and testify before the House Finance Subcommittee on Primary & Secondary Education. He joined representatives from Solon City Schools, Sycamore Community Schools, St. Bernard City Schools, and Granville Exempted Village Schools to share testimony regarding the impact of Governor Kasich’s proposed budget reductions on public schools around the state, which amounts to a $3.5 million reduction of state funding dollars for Strongsville City Schools in just one year. Superintendent Ryba’s full testimony may be found HERE.
Please make your voice heard and express your disappointment and opposition to the Governor’s proposed budget reductions. Your opinion matters and we encourage you to reach out to both State Representative Thomas Patton and State Senator Matt Dolan. Below are links to letters that can simply be printed, signed, and mailed. If email is preferred, the letters can be copied and sent to Representative Thomas Patton (rep07@ohiohouse.gov) and Senator Matt Dolan (dolan@ohiosenate.gov).
MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - CHAPMAN ELEMENTARY SPECIAL EDUCATION AIDE MRS. JOANNE CIRIGLIANO
Mrs. Joanne Cirigliano is a Special Education Aide at Chapman Elementary. She has been with our District for 5 years, starting as a playground monitor, and has spent the last four years in her current position. A graduate of John Carroll University, Mrs. Cirigliano has experience working with adults with disabilities in residential settings, but has found a home with Strongsville City Schools.
“I love working with the students at Chapman. Each day brings new challenges. Our position is unique because not only do we teach our kids academics, but we also teach them the skills necessary to reach their individual goals. We have the privilege of getting to know their unique personalities and are able to teach each person based on their likes and dislikes and their wants and needs,” says Mrs. Cirigliano.
She also enjoys her work environment. “The special education department at Chapman is a great place to work. We have a team of teachers, aides, and other professionals who work as a team. Decisions about our kids are made collaboratively and the teachers and other professionals seek and value our opinions about the kids we assist.”
Thank you Mrs. Cirigliano for being an important part in the development of our students at Chapman!
