IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES AND ACTIVITES FOR SENIORS
DISTRIBUTION OF CAPS AND GOWNS
SENIOR RALLY- MAY 1ST
PROM- MAY 4TH
Prom is May 4th at the Kern County Museum. Any owed debt must be paid in order to purchase tickets. April 2nd-12th $50 w/CSB, $55 w/o. April 15th-April 26th $60 with CSB, $65 w/o. April 29th-May 1st ALL TICKETS $70. All Students must have a dance contract on file before they can purchase their tickets and must turn in a guest contract to the Deans Office for any guests. 1 GUEST ALLOWED PER STUDENT. A current photo ID is required at check in for students and guests. No purses allowed, clear bags only.
ATHLETIC SIGNING- MAY 13TH
On Wednesday, May 13th, we will be honoring all of our athletes that are receiving athletic scholarships from 4 year universities. The ceremony will start at 4pm in the gym. If you have a student that is interested in participating in the Athletic Signing, please contact Sammi Escobar or Tom Haskell in our Athletic Office.
DAY OF INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
- Parent(s)/Guardians will be seated with students at their tables, there will only be an additional 2 chairs per table so please plan accordingly.
- The Athletic office will be providing each student with a banner that has their school and name on it and a balloon bouquet of their school colors.
- Parents are allowed to bring extra table decorations such as photos, school spirit gear, balloons and flowers but please keep in mind that we will be recognizing all student athletes so do not bring anything that will block peoples view of any of the other students.
ACADEMIC SIGNING- MAY 15TH
Seniors that will be attending a 4 year university next year that would like to participate in the Academic signing on May 15th, need to scan the QR code complete this google form!
SENIOR SUNSET- MAY 20TH
Make sure you bring a beach towel, blanket, or lawn chair. We will have a taco truck dinner, hand out yearbooks, watch the senior video and watch a movie. Cost is $25. It will cover the cost of a SENIOR SUNSET T-Shirt (which is required to get in), dinner, and a big screen TV on the football field. If you purchased package Senior package #1 or #2 at the beginning of the year, your Senior Sunset t-shirt has already been paid for. If you did not purchase a package and would like to attend, you have until Friday, May 3rd to pay in the Finance Office. This event is for SENIORS ONLY.
SENIOR FINALS- MAY 21ST-23RD
SENIOR CHECKOUT DEADLINE- MAY 23RD
Senior checkout requires final clearance signatures from all of the following: teachers, textbook office, Library, counselor and registrar by 3:00pm on Thursday May 23rd. Please make sure you have your student ID. All present and past debt accrued at Centennial or any other Kern High School District school must be cleared through the Finance Office (Cash ONLY). The Finance Office is open 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. At the end of each final exam period, seniors are to check in their textbooks. Textbooks are to be turned in at the Library only. Books are not to be turned in to teachers. Seniors may return/clear textbooks until 3:30 p.m. each day of senior finals. All clearance forms are due to the Registrar by Thursday May 23rd at 3:00pm.
SENIOR BREAKFAST & HYPNOTIST SHOW- MAY 24TH
The day will begin with a breakfast catered by Hodels between 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. in the cafeteria. After breakfast, seniors will head over to the PAC for the hilarious hypnotist show which will run 10:00 a.m. til 11:30 a.m. Hypnotist candidates will be selected from the audience. Cost is $25 to attend both events. If you purchased package Senior package #1 or #2 at the beginning of the year, your Senior Breakfast and hypnotist show has already been paid for. If you did not purchase a package and would like to attend, you have until Friday, May 10th to pay in the Finance Office. This event is for SENIORS ONLY.
SENIOR AWARDS- MAY 28TH
Senior awards and scholarships will be given out on Tuesday, May 28th, at 9:00 a.m. in the PAC. Come and enjoy the success of your senior class. Award recipients are to wear their gown and will be notified prior to the award ceremony. Parents of seniors are invited to attend.
GRAD NITE- MAY 28TH
We will board the buses at approximately 11:30am on Tuesday, May 28th and will return to campus at approximately 5:00am on Wednesday, May 29th. Vandalism warning: Try not to leave your car overnight in the parking lot. On a negative note (but one that must be mentioned), ALL students will be searched before loading the buses from Centennial AND upon arrival at Disneyland. If any student is denied entrance into Disneyland because of possession of banned substances, paraphernalia, and/or any type of weapon…the student will be detained by Disneyland police and either transferred to Anaheim Police Department or be required to have parents pick them up at Disneyland. In addition, any student that gets in trouble while at Disneyland may lose their opportunity to participate in Centennial’s graduation ceremony! No student will be allowed to carry medication with them while in the park. All medication orders need to be on file through our nurses office. If your student has medication that will need to be given during the hours of the trip, a chs staff chaperone will be given the medication to hold during the duration of the trip to ensure it gets to your student at the appropriate time. All medication will then be returned to the nurses office.
BACCALAUREATE- MAY 29TH
The Baccalaureate ceremony is sponsored by Centennial students. This nondenominational religious ceremony honoring seniors will be held Wednesday, May 29th at 7:00 p.m. in the PAC. Cape your gown over your Sunday best . More information will follow. Parents will enjoy this student sponsored ceremony.
GRADUATION CEREMONY- MAY 30TH
GRADUATION PRACTICE- MAY 30TH AT 8:00AM
On Thursday, May 30th at 8:00 a.m. seniors are to report to the football stadium for mandatory commencement practice. Seniors who do not attend will not be allowed to participate in the evening ceremony. We suggest bringing a hat and sunscreen as practice is outside. After rehearsal each graduate will receive 8 tickets.
GRADUATION CEREMONY- MAY 30TH AT 7:30PM
CHECK-IN: All graduates must check-in at 6:15 p.m. in the gym. Wear your cap and gown. Don’t forget to bring your cap tassel. Only the designated CHS cap, gown, and honor stoles will be approved for graduation. Appropriate dress attire and shoes must be worn under the cap and gown.. NO BAGS OR PURSES will be allowed. .

GRADUATION BEHAVIOR
We are a class act and so is our ceremony. Improper behavior will not be tolerated and those involved will be removed. We ask that family and friends be courteous and remain quiet throughout the ceremony during this momentous event.
GRADUATION PHOTOGRAPHY
A professional graduation photographer will capture each student receiving their diploma. Proofs will be mailed to each students’ home in early summer. Personal photo opportunities will be available after the ceremony.
GRADUATION PARKING
Parking will be available on a first come, first serve basis, in the stadium lot, front parking lots, and on the surface streets adjoining Centennial. Special handicap parking will be located adjacent to the stadium.
HANDICAPPED SEATING
Areas of the stadium will be dedicated for special seating of our handicapped parents/guests. Only one attendant per handicap person in the designated areas will be allowed. Please contact an usher or school personnel for assistance.
TICKETS
Each graduate will be given 8 tickets for parents and guests for the commencement ceremony. No additional tickets will be available. Check with fellow graduates for unused tickets. It is suggested to leave infants and small children at home. Handicap tickets will be available upon request. Only one attendant per handicap person. Must show handicap placard to receive handicap tickets.
DIPLOMA PICK UP- MAY 31ST
Diplomas will be available for pick-up Friday, May 31st at the Finance Office. Students must pickup their own diploma. It will not be given to a friend, sibling, parent, or mailed.
