Barrington Updates 4/7/24
Solar Eclipse
- Monday, April 8 - solar eclipse - early release
For the first time since 1806, a total solar eclipse will be visible in Ohio at approximately 3 p.m. on April 8, 2024. To eliminate the safety concerns involved with students being dismissed during the eclipse, and to allow families to experience this historic event together, there will be an early dismissal of 1 p.m. for the elementary schools and 1:30 p.m. for the middle schools, high school and Burbank Early Childhood School. Thanks to the Upper Arlington Education Foundation, all UA Schools students and staff members will be receiving eclipse glasses through the district.
Coin War
Get ready for an exciting and impactful week as we gear up for a school-wide coin war to support the Buckeye Clinic of South Sudan! From April 8 to April 12, students and families are encouraged to participate by sending in their spare change. Every coin counts, and the proceeds from this initiative will contribute to the vital work of the Buckeye Clinic in South Sudan.
To add an extra element of friendly competition, our dedicated 5th-grade students will be in charge of tallying the total amount of money collected each day. It's not just about the coins; it's about coming together as a community to make a difference. Your support in this service learning project is invaluable, and we look forward to seeing the incredible impact we can make together.
Thank you for being a part of this meaningful endeavor!
You Belong Family Book Read Event
We're excited to share a new (optional) district-wide You Belong Family Book Read, a collaboration among PTOs and Upper Arlington City Schools to build community through shared experiences. During the month of April, families are invited to read Just Roll With It, a middle-grade graphic novel that focuses on themes surrounding mental wellness and belonging. On May 11, 2024, community members are invited to a celebration at Thompson Park from 12:00 - 2:00, featuring a discussion with the illustrator and author of Just Roll With It, Veronica Agarwal and Lee Durfey-Lavoie.

to make Clown Around a FREE EVENT for all Barrington students and families so your support is greatly appreciated! In lieu of selling tickets to the event, we are asking each student to raise $40 or more to help in meeting our Barrington goal of $25,000. We are grateful for any level of financial support you are willing to offer our students. There is no required donation. Families can also help by sponsoring an activity at the event. If you would like to sponsor the event or donate to Clown Around, please click here. Corporate sponsorships must be submitted by May 1st to be included on signage during the event. AND, each week up until the event, students will see how they are tracking towards the school goal of $25,000. If this goal is met, the students will enjoy a free recess full of fun and treats!
Lost & Found
The lost & found is filling up again. Please have your children take a minute to carefully look for anything missing in our lost and found, which can be found in the stairwell closest to the office. We have nearly 100 items of coats, sweatshirts, gloves, mittens, hats, lunch boxes and water bottles. Thank you in advance for helping us keep this area tidy.See attached photos.
