News From the Nurse's Suite
Vaccination
Please be aware that Maryland school regulations require all 7th graders to have Tdap and Meningococcal vaccination records in school files by September 5, 2022. By law, students are not allowed to attend school if these records are missing, or if documented medical or religious exemptions are not provided.
If you have not yet turned in documentation of vaccination to Nurse Robeson, please plan a visit to your primary care provider to obtain the necessary documents. Please return documents to Nurse Robeson. She can be reached at 301-475-0230 x 5 or krrobeson@smcps.org Our school’s fax number is 301-475-0237.
Medication Pick up
All medications must be picked up by June 20, 2022. Medications not collected by parents/guardians will be destroyed, per SMCPS policy. Please keep medication forms and action plans available for summer appointments. New orders will be required for the new school year.
We Need You!
Your LMS PTA needs you! We are still in need of a couple of board positions for the 2022-23 school year. We require a Secretary and a Vice President. The positions only require a couple of your hours a month and is highly rewarding to be able to give back to your child's school! Please contact us ASAP to be able to continue having a PTA board and to help our school. Have a great weekend!!

A Word From the Media Specialist
Checking Students' Materials in Destiny
Did you know students can check their own Destiny account? Confused on when and if laptops need to be returned? How materials are handled if a student transfers within SMCPS?
Please see the following SMORE regarding Resource Accountability: SMCPS Issued Books, Consumables, & Technology for answers to these questions, and more helpful information regarding media!
SMCPS Issued Technology
This year all students in SMCPS were issued a device for online learning. Unless the student is a senior, students will keep their technology checked out over the summer.

Please Keep in Mind as it Gets Warmer
As you are aware, there are standards for appropriate dress when attending school. What is acceptable to wear to the movies and the mall might not always be acceptable for school. Based on some outfits that the staff and I have begun to see as the weather is getting warmer, please consider this a friendly reminder about our LMS dress code expectations.
Students must wear clothing that covers certain body parts. Clothes must be worn in such a way that the chest, midriff, pelvic/groin area, and buttocks are covered..
Clothing displaying or suggesting profanity; sexual activity through graphic images, words, or innuendos; weapons; drugs/alcohol or drug paraphernalia; violence; or tobacco products may not be worn, visible, or displayed.
Clothing with identifiable gang/crew representation or paraphernalia may not be worn, visible, or displayed.
Symbols or messages generally accepted to promote intolerance, hate, racial slurs (for example Confederate flag, swastika, Ku Klux Klan or KKK) may not be worn, visible, or displayed.
Head coverings may only be worn indoors so long as the student’s face is visible and it does not interfere with instruction or student safety.
Shoes must be worn that are safe for all activities.
Student dress for school-sponsored activities must be in compliance with the Student Dress Code.
Important Information About Your Child's Resources (Laptops/Textbooks/Novels)
As we approach the 4th marking period media centers will begin to remind students of what is checked out and overdue in their names. We have several documents to share with families about accountability.
