The Tiger Times
March 2024
🧁 From the Principal 🍭
Hello Mohawk Families,
I hope you enjoyed your winter break. March is full of activities and spring is right around the corner! The best part about March, it's Reading Month! This year's theme is "Reading is Sweet!". We have a lot planned so be sure to check out the reading month calendar below.
Spring conferences are by invitation only on March 13th & 14th. This year we are offering virtual conferences on Wed., March 13th and in-person conferences on Thurs., March 14th. Please contact your child's teacher if you would like to request a conference.
Attendance is a huge concern. You will receive a letter when your child reaches 10, 15, and 20 absences. Please make sure we are aware if your child is sick. It will be counted as an excused absence. Truancy is considered at 20 absences but there are factors we take into account before filing such as making up missed work and communication with the teacher. If you have questions, please call the office.
Educationally Yours,
Ms. Andrea Verellen

Great Job Mr. Middleton! 😀
Thank you to everyone who supported the Heart Challenge. Mohawk collected $9,139.92, beating our record amount by $1,600!!! Due to our tremendous support, the American Heart Association gave us an extra $200 for a total of $900! Mr. Middleton will be able to purchase games and equipment for PE Class. Students understood the importance of this fundraiser and Mr. Middleton's passion for the cause.

Spring Conferences
To increase parent/guardian attendance, spring conferences have been adjusted to meet the diverse needs of our families. The first night of March conferences will be offered virtually via Microsoft Teams, while the second night will accommodate in-person appointments. For some parents, a virtual option allows for a conference without having to come to school in person. Students will be allowed to bring home their laptops if needed. If you have access to your own computer/phone, you will need to download the Teams app.
As always, spring conferences are by invitation only. After winter break, teachers will send home a Sign-Up Genius link so you can choose the option best suited for you. Conference times are still limited to 15 minutes and one conference per student.
