November News 2023 "The World's Greatest Elementary School"
PRINCIPAL POINTS
Dear Taft Community,
We hope this newsletter finds you well as we enter the month of November. As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, it's important to take a moment to reflect on all that we have and express gratitude for the blessings in our lives.
Expressing Gratitude:
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we encourage our students and staff to practice gratitude throughout the month. Here are a couple of ideas to get started:
1. Gratitude Jar: Create a gratitude jar at home and encourage your child to write down something they are thankful for each day. This simple activity helps cultivate a positive mindset and appreciation for the little things in life.
2. Thank You Notes: Take a moment to write a thank you note to someone who has made a positive impact on your life. It could be a teacher, a family member, a friend, or even a community member. Let's spread kindness and gratitude together!
Parking Lot and Pick -Up Updates / Attendance Calls
Attendance
The number one way to make sure that your child is getting the most out of school is to make sure they are in attendance each day. Since much of what we do at school is direct teaching and practice, it is very hard to put together the lessons as make-up work. When a child is absent they can miss important instruction and the teacher's help with practice. Please consider taking vacations and scheduling appointments when we are not in session. However, if your child is ill or your family is struggling with Covid19, the teacher and instructional aides will always do their best to help catch him/her up.
Pick-Up
We are no longer allowing early pick-ups between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. There are entirely too many parents who are simply attempting to "beat traffic." This creates way too many disruptions. If you need to pick your child up early, it must be done prior to 3:30 p.m..
Also, we will NOT call students down to the office for early dismissal until the parent is physically in the office, has provided identification, and has signed the child out.
Parking Lot
Parking lot rules have been established, shared and reiterated many times. There are still parents (especially in the mornings) who are not following rules, which creates major safety concerns for all. They are cutting in line, driving the wrong way, parking in the looping lane -watching their child walk all the way into the building etc. I am looking for volunteers in the mornings to assist with keeping our Taft family safe!
