The Association for Language Learning’s annual conference and CPD event
Language World offers a packed programme with speakers from across the languages sector attracting up to 250 participants a day. The theme this year is Progress for ALL and there are sessions on promoting progress in all aspects of pupils’ learning of languages.
Keynote Speaker: A period of calm and stability - the facts, the proposals & the implications of recent developments in education policy - Bill Watkin, Chief Executive of the Sixth Form Colleges Association.
Exhibition: A large and varied exhibition showcasing the latest in language learning resources and support.
Show & Tell: Back for 2017 in Primary French and Spanish and Secondary French, Spanish and German - an opportunity as a delegate to immerse yourself in the target language.
New for 2017: On Friday, there will be a poster session, an opportunity for academics and teachers to showcase their research and classroom-based case studies and field questions from delegates.
Programme to include:
- Planning for progression and transition: KS2-3, KS3-4, KS4-5, KS5-HE
- New GCSE and A Level curricula and examinations
- Assessing without levels at KS2 and KS3
- Languages curriculum leadership at primary and secondary

Language Futures at Language World
On Friday, there will be a major talk (Linguistic autonomy, in the end, is the only goal that matters) and a secondary session (Developing after-school languages provision as a serious strategy for increasing pupil motivation and uptake). There will also be a poster session on the Language Futures approach.
On Saturday, there will be a primary session (Opening the classroom door to parents and the community: How Language Futures can enhance provision and impact upon progress).
