Annual Feedback Survey: Parents and Caregivers
Have your say! EIPS’ 2023-24 Annual Feedback Survey Opens March 1-21
Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) wants to hear from you. Make sure to complete the 2023-24 EIPS Annual Feedback Survey: For parents and caregivers—open from March 1-21.
Every year, EIPS conducts the feedback survey to gauge its progress toward meeting the goals and priorities outlined in its Four-Year Education Plan. Families are asked a series of questions about:
· their experiences with EIPS and the specific school their child attends;
· the quality of education being provided to students;
· areas for improvement; and
· new this year, the survey includes an additional series of questions—focused on stakeholder confidence in EIPS’ priorities and strategic direction as a whole.
Collectively, the Division uses the survey feedback to help guide future planning, decision-making and strategies—all aimed at enhancing student learning and better serving the wider community.
TAKE THE SURVEY NOW!
open March 1-21
To preview the questions before completing the survey, see Question Preview - 2023-24 EIPS Annual Feedback Survey: For parents and caregivers.
NOTE: To share the experiences of more than one child, or if you have a child who attends classes at more than one EIPS school—such as Next Step and an EIPS senior high school—simply complete the survey again.
The survey is anonymous and only takes roughly 10-15 minutes to complete. EIPS will share the survey results in next year’s Annual Education Results Report 2023-24.

Volunteers Needed!
URGENT! Casino volunteers needed for April 14th and 15th!
The Lakeland Ridge Parent Action Society has been allocated a casino for April 14th and 15th and we need volunteers! Our last casino brought in about $20,000, which goes a long way to making improvements in the school for our kids. In the past we have used casino money for things like the bouldering wall, lockers in the girls' change room, and updated technology to use in classrooms. The Parent Action Society gets to decide how this money is spent, so we can put it towards things that matter to us. But, without enough volunteers we will forfeit this money, as well as the opportunity to participate in future casinos for our school.
Please consider helping out. The shifts are from 3pm to midnight at the Camrose Casino, with various jobs available. If you’re able to volunteer, please send an email to llrpaschair@gmail.com. The LLR students thank you!
Counsellor Corner
I am very excited to announce that parents will have an opportunity to sign up for Circle of Security Training for Caregivers. I have taken this training twice and have learned something new each time. I cannot recommend it enough. Please see the information below for further details and instructions on how to register. If you have any questions you are also welcome to contact me at tammy.marks@eips.ca
Circle of Security® Training for Caregivers Spring 2024
Strong relationships are the foundation of wellness and learning. This session will be focused on the caregiver/child relationship and be most applicable to your family setting with young children (grade 2 and younger). However, there will be opportunities to gain insight into how you might better understand your family/work/partner relationships as well.
About the Program:
At times all parents feel lost or without a clue about what their child might need from them. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. The Circle of Security® Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.
Using the COSP™ model developed by the Circle of Security originators, a facilitator will help parents:
o Understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs
o Support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
o Enhance the development of their child's self-esteem
o Honor the innate wisdom and desire for their child to be secure
EIPS will be offering this training for caregivers this spring. Join us for 6 sessions on Mondays in April/May.
Session Dates/Time: April 8, 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13 from 6:15-7:30 PM
All sessions are at Glen Allan School in the library. Space is limited. To register, please click here: https://permission.click/egJgO/ca/signee-info

Inclement Weather
With typical Alberta weather we never know what we will get. Some days will be wet and some days will be cold. What matters is that we all dress appropriately for outdoor activities no matter the weather.
Please ensure your child(ren) have an extra set of clothes in their school bag.
Tip: Label extra clothing to leave at school such as socks, underwear, pants and shirt.
*Please also ensure your child has appropriate indoor footwear in the event of an unplanned evacuation.
Watch for Thin Ice
Remember, be aware of thin ice this time of year. Depending on changing temperatures, ice can form and melt to varying degrees on outdoor bodies of water. Try to remind your child about the dangers of thin ice, obey all posted signs, take proper care and remain a safe distance from the ice.
For more information about ice safety, visit the Canadian Red Cross.
Did you know?
The colour of ice may be an indication of its strength. Clear blue ice is the strongest. White opaque is half as strong as blue ice. And, grey ice is unsafe—greyness indicates the presence of water.
STUDENT ATTENDANCE
School attendance is crucial for students to achieve academic success and personal development. Regular attendance ensures that students have the opportunity to fully engage with the curriculum, participate in classroom discussions, and build strong relationships with teachers and peers. Consistent attendance also helps students develop vital time-management and discipline skills, setting a foundation for future success in the workplace. Additionally, frequent absences can result in gaps in learning and missed opportunities for crucial educational experiences. By attending school regularly, students are able to maximize their learning potential and establish habits that will serve them well throughout their lives.
EIPS Annual Education Results Report
Every year, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) publishes an Annual Education Results Report, which outlines the Division’s Four-Year Education Plan, opportunities for growth and how it’s supporting students to achieve the best possible outcomes. Read through this year’s EIPS Annual Education Results Report 2022-23 and discover how EIPS fosters learning environments for all students to learn, grow and thrive—and why it matters.
